Summary: In the paper certain irregular derivative sampling theorems are presented for weakly stationary band-limited stochastic signals, following the approach by Higgins in the sampling reconstruction of deterministic signals and the approach given by Seip for stationary stochastic signals. On this way the equidistantly sampled cardinal series approximation results are generalized to the irregular sampling, involved the derivative sampling case. Truncation error upper bounds are derived and certain older results, as the special cases of ours are discussed.

Summary: An arbitrarily sharp upper bound is established for the magnitude of the mean - square truncation error in the sampling expansion of a band - limited homogeneous random field. As a main tool, the Bernstein bound on the remainder of the symmetric complex Fourier series of the function exp(itx) is introduced. As a simple consequence of the derived result, the convergence rate is ordered in the almost sure sampling reconstruction.

Summary: The characterization of convexity - as well as pseudo- and quasiconvexity - of the composite, product and quotient functions is well-known. These results are generalized in this paper for strongly convex and strongly quasiconvex case. We prove, among others, that (i) the quotient of a non-negative, strongly convex and a positive, bounded concave function is strongly quasiconvex; (ii) the product of a non-positive, strongly convex function and a concave function with positive lower bound is strongly qausiconvex. These results are illustrated by many examples, e.g. for (i) we examine the arithmetic and geometrical means over a convex, compact subset of R(n).

Summary: The spectral representation of the Shannon - Kotel'nikov sampling cardinal series expansion (SCSE) of non - bandlimited (NBL) stochastic signals were presented in some earlier papers by the author. This result gives the main tool in deriving the optimal value of the bandwidth in the approximation of the NBL stochastic signal by a sampling series of a BL signal such that it possesses the same spectral process. In this paper the Brown aliasing error upper bound is extended to the NBL multidimensional stochastic processes and to the NBL homogeneous random fields. The magnitude of the derived bound is ordered under some smoothness condition upon the random field. Finally some statistical interpretations and methods are presented in the Shannon-Kotel'nikov discretization procedure for the stochastic signals.

    Held: from 10/04/94 to 10/06/96
Summary: The sampling theorem enables a band-limited signal to be expressed in terms of a set of sample point values, which occur at the Nyquist rate. The sampling theorem has been generalized to include irregular sampling (Higgins, Seip), and the use of derivatives of the signal (Higgins, Pog ny). Our main goal is to adapt certain already obtained very broad results, such that are derived for the exponentially bounded signals, with Schwartz base functions in the general order irregular-derivative sampling (Pog ny) to some practical problems, e.g. to the derivation of the optimal value of measurements of signal from irregularly spaced data with given approximation error level.
