Summary: The decay of silver and hafnium atoms with a vacancy in the
K shell by the emission of photon pairs which continuously share the
transition energy was studied. The differential transition probabilities of
2s - 1s, 3s - 1s, 3d - 1s and 4sd - 1s two-photon transitions of a K-shell
vacancy have been determined.
The 3d - 1s two-photon decays show the resonance behaviour, in accordance
with the theoretical predictions.

Summary: Transient molecular ions of CO(q+), q = 2 - 7, were
produced in single collisions of 97-MeV Ar(14+) ions with CO molecules. The
resulting dissociation products were identified by coincidence
time-of-flight spectroscopy. Analysis of the total-kinetic-energy
distributions led to the conclusion that ionization by Ar-ion impact
populates states having considerably higher excitation energies than those
accessed by photoionization.

Summary: Cross sections for K x-ray production in solid targets (Z =
13, 22, 26, 29, 32, 40, 42, 46, and 50) by 30 MeV/u beams of H, N, Ne, and
Ar. Detailed analyses of the projectile and target Z dependences of the
cross sections were performed. Also, the relative intensities of K x rays
from double K-shell ionization of the higher-Z targets are presented for N,
Ne, and Ar projectiles.
Keywords: cross sections for K x-ray production by fast ions, H, N, Ne and Ar ions, relative intensities from double K-shell ionization

Summary: Data on production and dissociation od CO(q+), q = 1 - 7,
molecular ions, obtained by ion-ion coincidence time-of flight
measurements, were analysed to determine production yields, dissociation
fractions and branching ratios. An enhancement of the total ionization
yields for q > 4 was observed, and it suggests that electron transfer
followed by LMM Auger decay plays an important role in determining the
final charges of the dissociation products.
Keywords: dissociation of CO molecular ions fast Ar ions dissociation fractions and branching ratios

Summary: Spectra of K X-rays produced by collisions of 30 MeV/u Ar
ions with metallic targets of Ti, V. Cr. Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn were
measured with a Si(Li) detector system. The target double-to-single K-shell
ionization probabilities were also determined, along with the relative
probabilities of having single and double K-shell vacancies in the
projectile during the passage through the metal foils.

Summary: The yields of He, Ne, and Ar recoil ions produced in
collisions with 10 - 40 MeV/u N(7+) projectiles were measured by the
time-of-flight technique. The ratios of the yields for double and single
ionization of He and Ne were found to be higher than predicted by theory.
The role of electron correlation in multiple ionization was assesed by
comparing the experimental data for Ne and Ar with the results od an
independent electron approximation.

Summary: Recoil-ion charge distributions produced in single
collisions of 8 MeV/u Kr(13+) and Kr(32+) projectiles with Xe atoms have
been measured using time-of-flight spectroscopy. The post collision charge
states of the projectile ions were determined by magnetic dispersion onto a
position sensitive microchannel plate. A simple model quantitatively
explains the variation of the capture-ionization charge distribution width
and average charge as a function of the number of captured electrons.

Summary: Three-dimensional imaging of the molecular dissociation
process in fast collisions is presented with two different setups. In one a
fast molecular beam is colliding with a gas target. In the second molecular
target is irradiated with highly ionized fast beam. The advantages of each
system are discussed. The three-dimensional imaging of the molecular
fragmants is done with special detectors that combine the CCD image with
time of flight data.

Summary: Dissociation of CO molecules induced by 96 MeV Ar ions is
being studied by simultaneously measuring the times of flight and the
positions of the dissociation products. The position information is
obtained using optical methods. For each event the velocity components of
both ions are determined and used to deduce the released kinetic energy and
angular distribution.

Summary: Charge distribution state of He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe ions
produced in single collisions with alpha particles and fission fragments
from the decay of 252-Cf have been measured using the time of flight
spectrometry. The measurements reveal that the maximum number of electrons
removed in a fission fragment collision ranges from 8 in the case of Ne to
20 in th case of Xe. Recoil-ion production cross sections have been
determined for the resolvable ion charge states and compared with the
predictions of a model based upon the indeppendent electron approximation.
