Summary: The article reviews the twofold photochemical
dehydrocyclizationreactions that led to the formation of aromatic
andheteroaromatic condensed polycyclic sytems. The main reactants inthis
reaction are distyrylbenzenes and their derivatives. Themechanisms of

Summary: The principle of the chromatographic resolution of
racemates ontriacetylcelulose and the application of that method to
someclasses of chiral compounds is shown in this review paper.Furthermore,
the examples are given of the use of the opticallyactive compounds,
obtained by that method, for determination ofthe Gibbs free enthalpies of
activation, DG, for someintramolecular processes such as inversion of
nitrogen atoms indiaziridine, or partial rotation about the C-N bond
inatropisomeric heterocyclic biaryls. Also, the possibilities ofthe
application of that method for separation of enantiomers ofcompounds of
pharmacological interest are shown. That is ofparticular importance in the
field of optically pure chiral drugdevelopment, where strict requirements
are placed on comparativeevaluation of the pharmacological activities,
toxicities andpharmacokinetic properties of separated enantiomers.

that1,5-dihydro-8-methyl/1,3/dioxepino/5,6-c/pyridine-9-oles,intermediates
in the synthesis of Vitamin B6, can be obtained byDiels-Alder reaction of
5-formyl-4-methyloxazole with cyclicacetales of cis-2-butene-1,4-diole and
subsequent rearrangementof the obtained bicyclic aducts. Aromatization of
bicycloaductsproceedes spontaneously without liberation of high

Summary: In ordar to examine the reactions od
photochemicaldehydrocyclization some distyrylthiophene and
distyrylfuranderivatives were prepared. By the reaction of
twofoldphotodehydrocyclization distyryl-derivatives were converted
tocorresponding dinaphthotiophene or, less generally,dinaphthofuran
derivatives. The twofold photodehydrocyclizationmight proceed in one step
via tetrahydro intermediate.

Summary: A series of 2-substituted benzothiazoles as well as
theirvinylene derivatives were prepared. Benzothiazoles were preparedby the
condensation reactions of appropriate aldehydes witho-aminothiophenole
while their vinylogues were syntesized with2-methylbenzothiazole and
2-propenylbenzothiazole, respectively.For all compounds absorption and
fluorescence spectra were takenin appropriate solutions. Stokes shifts,
relative fluorescencequantum efficiency and optical sensitivity were
calculated. Theproperties of some prepared compounds make them interesting
forfurther investigations as fluorescent compounds with possiblecommercial
use.

Summary: In effort to find new erythromycin modifications with
modifiedantibacterial activities the synthesis of some
novelN-3-aryl-4-sydnonylmethyl derivatives of (9S)-erythromycylaminewas
performed by reduction with sodium borohydride of thecorresponding Schiff
bases. The Schiff bases were prepared bycondensation of erythromycylamine
with 4-formyl-3-arylsydnones.Structures were assigned on the basis of their
1H and 13C NMRspectra. The antibacterial activities
of(9S)-9-N-(3-aryl-4-sydnonylmethyl)erythromycylamines (aryl:phenyl, tolyl,
p-methoxyphenyl) were compared with those oferythromycin.
