Summary: Catches from the trammel nets with the middle netting layer(maha) with meshes sized 28 and 36 mm are compared. It wasobserved that nets with bigger meshes of "maha" a smaller numberof fish on the average (per net) were caught, but of a biggeraverage size weight as compared with those from the nets withsmaller size meshes, so that the catches on the average regardingtheir weight were equal. Differences in abundance of fish speciesand families were also observed, specially in the values of basicbiometrics characters of prevaling species from the cathes.

Summary: The data obtained by trawling (1972-1988) showed that benthiccommunitties (zoobenthos) has been very high. Individuals arestrongly affected by bottom currents and it may bee assumed thatthese parts are well aerated. Settlements of shellfish Lithophagalithophaga and Arca noae are well developed in the area ofResnik, while the settlemens in the eastern parts of the Bay aredisturbed by different types of pollution.

Summary: This studz breaflz describes the state and exploitation level og the world, Mediterranean and especiallz Adriatic sea resources (pelagic, demersal) and amount of fishing. Special attention has been given to the role and importance of the fisherz science in the Adriatic sea with regard to heavilz commercial stock where selection of the proper and harmonized management measures among stock users should make necessarz scientufic contribution. Under present state of the Adriatic resources exploitation, enhancement of the commercial population recruitment and mortalities patterns knowdledge should make necessary scientific contribution as well.

Summary: Results of studies of helminthofauna from the mid/Dalmatian area in the 1982-1989 period are presented. A total of 34 endohelminth species were recorded: 16 Trematoda Digenea, 5 Cestoda, 11 Nematoda and 2 Acanthocephala. Several new species were established from the study area and Adriatic as well as the new hosts of many endohelminths species. A total of 97 endohelminth species have been established by the earlier studies in this area since 1938.

Summary: Since 1974, round sardinella (Sardinella aurita), typically aninhabitant of tropical and subtropical seas, has been frequentlyreported in the Adriatic Sea, especially in the bays. Before thattime, they were rarely encountered in the Adriatic. The jearround occurence of round sardinella in the Adriatic Sea between43. and 44. Lat. N, and the presence of all life stages no doubtindicates that their distribution in the Mediterranean has been expanded approximately 500 km northward from earlier reportedgeographical limits. It is assumed that recent environmentalchanges, not only in the Adriatic but throughuot theMediterranean, have ben caused this range extension.

Summary: The aim of the present paper was to establish the time of firstoccurrence, their residence there and the time of leaving theKornat shallow coves (five) by juvenile fish, as well as theirquantity distribution, growth rate and condition factor. Physicaland chemicale parameters of surveyed coves were studied. Of 18species recorded there, the families Sparidae and Mugilidae weredominant. Juveniles of Oedalechilus labeo, Diplodus sargus andOblada melanura were recorded only from "outer" coves of theKornat archipelago, but their residence there was different.

    Held: from 10/03/94 to 10/07/94
Summary: The paper presents the results of the first sexual maturity and ponderal growth index of adolescent anchovy in the Zrmanja estuary - Novigrad sea, from August 1989 to April 1991. A total of 12,752 anchovy specimens have been analyzed. The minimum total length and age of 50% and 95% population maturity are established using logistic and Gompenz model: 50% of the anchovy population matured at 9 cm (both models), 95% at 11,0 cm (logistic model) and 10,8 cm respectively (Gompeny s model). According to the correlation coefficient the proper values are better approximated by logistic model (r=0,995). Judging from the ponderal growth index, adolescent growth varied from well-defined isometry (b=3) in winter to positive allometry in summer, with the peak in August 1990 (b=3.42).

Summary: Marine-fisheries investigation in the Adriatic sea during 1948-1949 year as well recent investigation in the Central open Adriatic (Jabuka Pit) have pointed out that the bottom trawl fishing area, Jabuka Pit, has been the principal, spawning fround of silver hake population. As this species spawns in this area mostly during March and April, where due to nonregulated mesh-size on the cod-end of the trawls intensively exploited small and young specimens, for the period 1960/1970 it has been assessed that around 5,3*10exp7 young individuaals were caught. Thus rational exploitation and protection of silver hake population in the Adriatic Sea, beside of fishing effort intrawl fishery, should have been foreseen throughout of optimal cod-end mesh size selection.

Summary: The paper presents the results of the biology, ecology andpopulation dynamics studies of anchovy, Engraulis encrasicolusL., from the material collected from the northern and middleAdriatic, between 1974 and 1991. A total of 20.910 specimens wereanalyzed. Byological and dynamic characteristic of this speciespopulation were studied along with their identity, migration, population size, age and sex structure, growth, first sexualmaturity, reproduction, fecundity, fat reserves, condition, mortality and survival. Using conceptual mathematical modelsbased on the growth rate at age, the values of growth parameterswere obtained by von Bertalanffy equation. The values thusobtained are basic data in fishery science particulary insystematic management of fishery resources and assessment og fishstocks.

The BHATTACHARYA s analitical method, i.e. computer program Compleat ELEFAN has been done using for the calculation of the growth parameters. Although some unavoiable difficulties arose, it is safe to say that this method for calculation of the population growth features the marine organisms is an acceptable and efficient analitical method.

Summary: Relationship between the body parts of the bluefin tuna caught in the Adriatic sea and its meristic characteristics have been analysed in this papers. The age analysis of different fish schools shows that the bluefin tuna in the Adriatic sea is mainly not older than four years. By analysing the food, it has been determined that the bluefin tuna feeds mainly on small pelagic fish and on cephalopods in the pelagial. In older ensure profitabillity during the whole year, purse-seine vessels should be equipped for other kinds of fishing activites as well.
