Summary: Potentiodynamic anodic polarization measurements on mild steel insolutions of sodium molybdate, prepared with tap water, haveshown that the addition of small amounts ofpolyhydroxycarboxylates, gluconate or borogluconate increased theinhibition efficiency. The presence of layers of the oxide oroxyhydroxide layers on the metal surface is necessary for theprotection. The same effect, less pronounced, was observed alsowith tartarate. The concentration of the added citrate adequateto the content of calcium ions in the tap water, prevents thepercipitation of molybdate.

The method is relatively new and is developing fast all over the world. It is suitable for application in Europe, which still has large coal reserves. By the extraction of methan from coal, the socalled clean energy is obtained. Because of that, such methane production has state support in US, which enhances its economical application. The Republic of Croatia has quite significant reserves of coal exceeding 250 million tons. Since opening of new coal mines not foreseen, application of the proposed method may enable partial utilization of energy potential of these reserves, if naturally conditions for that exist.

Summary: In order to select a proper material for the fabrication of wear parts in various tribological systems, it is necessary to consider the factors which actually make the system itself, physical properties of material structure essential for the function, and tribological characteristics relevant for the selection of certain material. The construction of a device for testing piston materials in mud pumps, definition of testing procedure and evaluation of the obtained results are treated in the paper. The tests were carried out on two different samples. The results have been elaborated, based on measured friction forces and relevant friction coefficients, loss in mass or volume, linear intensity of material wear, average shear stress and apparent energy density of friction. Besides the described application of the device for simulating the hydraulic section of the mud pump, it can also simulate many other actual tribological systems.

Summary: Most of gas and oil fields discovered up to day in Croatia represent the hydrocarbon accumulations in layers of low permeability. To increase production it is necessary to re-drill many old wells. It can be done by drilling with coiled tubing. Before that there are several problems that must be solved. First of all is the construction and manufacture of injector head of enough load capacity for increased weights when large diameter coiled tubing is used. Stresses associated whwn drilling with positive displacement motors, drill collars and other bottomhole assemblies should be computed and tested due to torsion to ensure that they can resist the torque during drilling.

Summary: During a well cementing special place belongs to the cement slurry design. Cement system designs for geothermal wells differ from those for conventional high temperature oil and gs wells in the exclusive use of silica flour insted of silica sand, and the avoidance of fly ash as an extender. In this paper,Portland cement behaviour at high temperatures is described. Cement slurry and set cement properties are also described. Published in literature, the composition of cement slurries which were tested in geothermal conditions and which obtained required compressive strength and water permeability are listed. As a case of our practice geothermal wells Velika Ciglena-1 i Velika Ciglena-1a are described.

Summary: Hydraulic parameters regularly monitored in drilling activitiesare jet velocity, hydraulic horsepower and impact force. Existingmethods provide this parameters to be calculated only at thenozzle outlet. PIV technique enables velocity measurements to becarried out simultaneously over the entire profile of the flow, allowing hydraulic parameters to be studied at any point betweenthe nozzle outlet and the hole bottom. Various three-dimensionalnozzles tested have their application in the improvement ofdrilling bit design, especially of PDC bits. Employed techniquesallow effective evaluation of nozzles, better understanding ofthe high velocity jet behaviour and may significantly contributeto the optimization of drilling hydraulics.

Summary: Coalbeds may contain methane which may be desorbed by adequate depression in wellbores. Pore surface in coal in which methane can be adsorbed usually is 3 to 7 times higher than pore surface of a gas bearing sandstone. Gas inflow condition through coal to a wellbore in the wellbore surrounding zone may be improved by hydraulic fracturing. In convenient condition by each of wells up to 5000 m3 of gas per day may be produced and by a few local need of a smaller settlement can be satisfied. Beside ecological advantage of application of gas as fuel, by degasation coalbeds safety condition of a mine is improved in case of later subsurface mining of partially degased coalbed.By investment need, by mean of application and by safety of continous suplly this mean of unconventional energy production has advantages compared to other, up to now studied unconventional energy sources.

Summary: Under combination completion of gas production wells we consider all situations when one or more of the following exists: more than one size of tubing, more than one size of casing, and two or more fluids in the tubing and /or annulus. Such problems (movement and forces) are solved as though each section is a separate uniform completion and tubing is initially free to move. Analysis and solving begin with the lowermost section and the algebraic sum of each section's length change is the total length change. Neglecting of such approach and simplifying by reducing on uniform zype can result with failure and recompletion expenses.

Summary: he use of chemical inhibitors is very often the most efficient way of preventing the corrosion of metalsin many industries in spite of continuing advances in development of corrosion resistant materials. There are also continous demands for improved technical performance of inhibitors and at the same time an increased awareness for the environmental safety. The mechanism of action and influence of the inhibitors on the rate of corrosion in the near-neutral media (pH=5-9), have been investigated and discused in the paper on the basis of the literature and the results of the authors experimental work. It was demonstrated, by electrochemical and weight loss measurements, that commonly used passivators, as nitrites, phosphates and chromates, toxic or provoking eutrophication substances, can be completely or at least partly, replaced by some ecologically compatible chemicals, as benzoates, polyhydroxycarboxylates, and less toxic passivators, molybdates and borates.

Summary: In theoretical part the paper is dealing with exact hydrocarbon fluid composition studied by mathematical modeling of phase behavior and volumetric prediction with Equation of State. Step by step is shown recent calculation of phase behavior applying K-factors determined from fugacity components by Equation of State. In case of the Žutica oil field, a mathematical model of Peng-Robinson Equation of State was created and applied in stimulation of a two thermodinamical process: a) gas injection in reservoir attaining a miscible conditions; and b) gas storage process. The results from two studied cases of possible oil-reservoir managing ways show that the reservoir for gas storage is in many ways better than applying the residual oil production regime by supporting reservoir pressure with gas injection.
