Summary: In the piping between the tank of a 40 MVA transformer, designedfor ONAN/ONAF cooling combination, and its bank of radiators, apropeller oil pump was installed. Temperature rises were measuredbefore and after installation of the pump. Algorithm forcalculation of windings and oil steady-state temperature rises ofONAN/ONAF/OFAF transformers is described. Installation of thepump can make transformer cooling more efficient provided thatcertain conditions are satisfied.
