computationof steady-state characteristics of the induction motor, fed
bythe changeable voltage and frequency, with the incorporatedeffect of
interinductance and leakage inductance of the statorand rotor. The states
variables in the mathematical model arethe flux linkages of the stator and
rotor and the inputquantities are the unsaturated values of the inductance
of themain and leakage magnetic circuits and the saturationcharacteristics
of those inductances. The results of thecomputations have been verified by

Summary: Two different methods for the estimation of the
inductionmotor drive state variables, are described in this paper. Thefirst
one is based on the phase currents and the rotor positionmeasurements, and
the other one on the measurements of the phasecurrents and voltages.
According to the predetermined conditionsthe numerical methods for the real
time calculations withmicroprocessor are selected. Methods for the
estimation of theinduction motor drive state variables and the selected
numericalmethods are verified by the simulation and measurements. Thevector
controlled PWM inverter fed induction motor drive issimulated and the state
variables being estimated by measurementsof the phase currents and the
rotor position. The measurements onthe six pulse inverter fed induction
motor drive are realizedwhile the state variables are estimated by
measurements of thephase currents and voltages.

Summary: Additional losses of induction motor which result from
itsbeing supplied from the converter cause the increase in theinduction
motor overtemperature, the reduction of the operatingload and the power
efficiency of the motor in relation to thesinusoidal supply. It is
important to calculate the inductionmotor additional and total losses when
designing electric motordrives and calculating the power of the induction
motors (andconverters).
The paper presents the methods of calculation andmeasurements of the
losses both in steady and in dynamic state ofoperation of the induction
motor which is supplied fromconverters. The calculation of the losses of
the squirrel-cageinduction motor supplied from the sinusoidal power supply,
fromthe six-pulse inverter and PWM inverter are made. The
calculationresults have been verified by measurements.

Summary: Switched-reluctance motors (SRM) have been proposed for
many applications from domestic appliances to traction drives. While their
benefits have been pointed out in many publications, problems with torque
oscillations and audible noise are normallymentioned as drawbacks compared
with other concepts. In thisrespect the SRM would not appear to be a
candidate for servodrives. This paper reports results of a project, in
which such amotor was given an optimized design and appropriate supply
andcontrol, so as to meet the requirements of a servo drive. Theresults
obtained from a prototype show the possibilities andlimitations for this
application.

Summary: An active semiconductor switch, implemented by using a
field-effect transistor, is a component in a number of power converters up
to 10 kW with operating frequency higher than approximately ten kHz.
Improvements of MOSFET switch characteristics, carried out during the
assembly, can also lead to higher efficiency of active converters.
The paper includes simulations results of the MOSFET switch turn-on
when parasitic inductance in the drain circuit and resistance in the gate
circuit are being changed. Simulation results have been experimentally
tested by measurements on the MOSFET switch laboratory model.

Title: Modelling and simulation of a MOSFET power switch
Faculty: Elektrotehnike Zagreb
Author: KULIŠIĆ LJUBOMIR
Date of defense: 02/02/95
Language: hrvatski
Number of pages: 130
Summary: The subject of the study is the MOSFET switch
characteristics. Its aim is to devise a mathematical model of the MOSFET
switch and to analyze the switch's characteristics.
To facilitate the design of the switch's mathematical model the
presentation includes the historical background, a brief description,
physical bases, development of the basic structure, an explanation of the
cause of parasitic capacitics and static characteristics of the MOSFET.
From the general mathematical model of the MOSFET switch mathematical
models of the switch were developed for during turn-on and turn-off.
Turn-on and turn-off intervals are divided into four time subintervals, and
corresponding computer programs were created to simulate the models on a
computer.
By using a simulation of the mathematical model on a computer, the
influence of MOSFET switch parameters was analyzed (parasitic inductivities
in the drain-source circuit, resistance in the gate circuit and the type of
parallel diode) on the current-voltage waveforms and losses during the
turning on and turing off of the switch. A comparison of simulation results
with those obtained by measurements on a laboratory model of the MOSFET
switch has confirmed the validity of the switch's mathematical model.
Three types of snubber RCD-pairs were analyzed to protect against the
overvoltage during the turning off. Also analyzed was the impact of
different types of snubber RCD-pairs on the losses of a MOSFET switch
during its turning on and turning off.
The comparison of losses with which a particular type of RCD-pair loads
the MOSFET served to classify snubber RCD-pairs.
Key words: MOSFET, mathematical modelling, computer simulation, MOSFET
turn-on, MOSFEET turn-off, RCD-snubber.
