Summary: Ship piping systems drawing, as required for an oceangoing cargo ship, are partly made in shipyard drawing office on the basis of the ship constructional drawings, and partly in the pipes workshop on the basis of pipe dimensions measured on board the ship. On analysis of 162000 specific data, obtained from 9000 piping drawings prepared for construction of a 112000 TDW crude oil tanker, revealed among other, that drawing offices in leading Croatian shipyards deal with pipe assortments suited for production line treatment of ship pipes. Such circunstance means that basic conditions for easier adoption of CAD construction technique have been thus provided, as a precondition for adoption of NC ship pipes treatment line. Furthermore, the rest of the identified pipe assortments appear to be suitable for treatment carried out on portable machines, with the sketches of neccesary adjustments made by production technicious on the spot. Such an arrangment would mean a lesser work load in the drawing office, with a further advantage of a more comfortable pipes geometry adjustment range applicable to the already fitted ship pipes.

    Held: from 05/19/94 to 05/21/94
Summary: Rhythm of operation of the compressors employed for feeding of pneumatic hand tools and pneumatic portable fans utilized within the ship construction process, was monitored in course of five calendar years to the purpose of establishing of how the intensity levels in the shipbuilding production reflect on the consumption of energy employed for generation of compressed air. Analysis of variance of compressor working time duration in course of daily hour revealed that there is statistically significant relation between the production process, intensity and consumption of compressed air, but at the same time it appeared that there is a considerable independence in the loss of compressed air in respect of the level of production capacities employment, and various levels of sophistication in construction of newbuildings.

Meeting: VII-th International Marine Association of Mediterane, Dubrovnik
    Held: from 04/23/95 to 04/27/95
Summary: The paper describes the results reached through a research of explosive vapours developed during coating of inner ship spaces by means of spraying technique in certain defined conditions. These defined conditions were: ventilation arrangement performances, spaces topography, and coat spraying intensity. The research methodology has been principally based on measuring of air steam rates within the subject spaces, and on on-line measurement of developed vapours concentrations during spraying operation. The results obtained showed oscilating concentrations, at which oscilations peaks were found to be substantially beyond the safety limit. In terms of duration, short lasting and long lasting concentrations have been revealed. The short lasting ones were due to immediate distance of the spray showing the characteristic of a systemic fault, while the long lasting ones resulted from accomodation condition, vertical positioning within a given ship space, distribution of air circulation rates, as well as from operators tendency to complete the operation within the shortest possible time, which means their shorter possible stay under the suffocating evaporation.

Title: Optimization of Hand Grinders Machining Systems in Shipyard
Faculty: Tehnički fakultet Sveučilište u Rijeci
    Author: ŠESTAN ANTON

    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 153
Summary: Results of such researching confirmed the thesis that high frequency current driven hand grinders are generally better suited for specific application within the ship construction process than their pneumatic driven counterparts. The advantage of electric driven hand grinders use is predominantly based on their significantly greater efficiency and lower investments needed. Due to created models of machining system function value algorithms, and criteria algorithm models for evaluation of particular functions of objectives, the bases for design of optimum machining system in the function of operating conditions have been provided. Considerably lower consumption of grinding power per steel mass unit grinded than is the case when stationary grinders are employed, indicates that the existing procedure of grinding process automatic control appears substantially underdeveloped with respect to development of the optimum grinding process by means of continuous adjustment of cutting parameters, and that by employing higher peripheral velocities of the grinding disc, it is possible to reach substantially higher efficiency levels for rough grinding operations.
