Summary: The paper aims in establishing the interdependance that
existsbetween the financial effects of economy and the informationeffects
of technology. Considering the economic development ofCroatia being based
on adequate of its own technologicaldevelopment, an urgent need for a
restructuring and reprogramming
of the existing higher technological education system arises.Three basic
causes of the degeneration of the eductional systemhave been analyzed to:
the first being the exclusive preferenceof the analytical model of science;
the second, the narrow-mindedexplanations of what technology is
representing; the third, theideologicaly oriented influences during the
last four decades.How to establish an appropriate system is a new process
proposedin this paper.

Summary: This paper discusses a process for direct mapping of
EDIFACTmessages into relational database, to allow transactions toin-house
systems. Various types of data relations inside EDIFACTmessages are shown.
Twelve relations and relationship typesbetween hierarchical EDIFACT and
relational data models areidentified. Problems and challenges of the
process for mappingmessage into a relational databases, based on practical
examplesfrom the shipping industry, demonstrate an expert systemtechnology
solution. A rule-based, data-driven front-endapplication is proposed which

Summary: The geodetic-spatial system as a fundamental
infrastucturalsystem of the state, with all it's subsystems, is shawn. The
roleof an efficient and effective cadastral subsystem in the creationof the
geodetic-spatial information basis, which enable the valueof the permanent
contents of space to be introduced as capitalinto the state's financial
flows, and the rationaldecision-making on relations between the man and the
space in allhuman technological and economic activities, is described.
Thetrends of development of geodetic-spatial systems in West-Europe,with
the emphasis on the cadastral subsystems, are conciselyexposed. The
Austrian cadastral system with recognition ofhomomorphy of the Croatian
cadastral system, are presented indetail. The trend of development of the
Croatian geodetic-spatialsystem is designated.

Summary: The two main trends of development of European

Summary: Presented are the objectives of a welding system, set
within a complex business-production system. It is necessary to view
welding and allied processes as a system i order that the designed
objectives may be reached. Further on, basic tenets of a welding system
methodology, comprised in the "THREE S CONCEPT" aimed at reachine an
enhanced ship welded structural elements reliability, have been given. In a
three-dimensional presentation, weldabilityes, has been presented as a
resultant of several influencing factors, i.e. of the properties of base
material, structures welded, production potentials, welding safety in
respect of the welding futness of base material. Also given are the
following presentations: optimization of quality achivement related costs,
through application of prevention; welding system breakdown into
subsystems, with pertaining funcional classification; welding system
funcional scheme, including basic info. interaction between the contained
subsystems, with presentation of separately incorporated quality control
elements in each of the subsystems connected to the quality assurance
subsystem.

Summary: The paper treats the issues in the field of

Summary: The multidimensional problem of the survival of small firms

Summary: on an example of a top management info-system, basic

Summary: International transport becomes increasingly reliant on
communications,especially in the field of maritime transport.The benefits
of EDI have captured the interest in Croatian Transport community,and the
inaugurating steps are reviwed.In a preliminary stage Faculty of Maritime
studies in Rijeka,has started a research in the field.First research of
policies,information flow and information structures in Croatian Transport
scene,and beginnings of implementation of EDIFACT standards show some
unexpected features.The author investigates the disadvantages in
implementation of EDIFACT standard.In comparison with other communication
techniques,the main causes of deficiency in EDIFACT usage ascend from a
standard itself.Built-in inconsistencies and ambiguities of EDI
messages,the need of additional documents-the interchange agreement,user
manual and implementation are disccussed as potential source od
inappropriate position and usage of EDIFACT standards and techniques in the
International trade community.

Summary: The paper treats the issues in the field of
(business-production)organizational systems designing methodology. The
methodology hasbeen conceived as a contribution to attempts for
establishing amethod for a breakdown of the business-production system
(BPS) asan object of design. Such methodology is intended to be
plausibleenough to be integrated into standard methodology oforganizational
systems designing. The methodology encompassesideas and examples integrally
taken from various shipbuildingconceptual projects. The subject methodology
is universal, andcan be applied, with equal efficiency, for designing of
thebusiness-production system as a whole, as well as for any of
it'sintegral units.
