Summary: The dissertation deals with possibility of itroducting a
flexible, automatie and robot-like procedures in a part of shipbuilding
production process wich refers to the assembly of voluminous sections. The
features of varous technological processes and the structure and
characteristics of shipbuilding production process are given in the
introduction of the thesis. Also, the existing level of automation within
some sub-processes in shipbuilding was analysed. Further, constriction and
technological features of grillage in the double bottom sectionesof the
ship parallel midbody, as a typical prismatic andvoluminous sections, have
been worked aut5 in detial. In addition, the necessary motion of grillage
elements during assembly was analysed, importanat for the kinetics
structure of the automat and for the flexible automatic positioning of its
parts. Consequently, a diagram showing the flexible, self-acting
positioning of the grillage elements was given. The main characteristics of
mechanical parts of the automatic device were also determined. With
reference to the above, some basic concepts and definitions in the field of
flexible automation have been pointed aut. Finally, the thesis is concerned
with the problems of material supply, necessary material flows as wel as
with information necessary for such a flexible automation of the
shipbuilding production. Morover, an exemple of the workshop layaut for the
automatic assembly of grillage with transport equipment and the main flow
of material was proposed.

Summary: Most shipbuilding countries renk the shipbuilding into the
labour-intensive industrydue to the fact the cost of labour figure out up
35% of the ship cost price.
The inrease of labour cost, the capability to construct a veritay in type
and size of ships, as well as the need to shorten the construction period,
impose upon the shipbuilding industry the necessity to develop and
implement flexible automation in ship production process by adopting models
from other industries.
The goal of this paper is to analzse the concept of flexible automation in
ship hull construction, nemely in the operations of pre-fabrication,
structural assembly operations and the operations of erection and welding.
