    Summary: The new general practice in CCEE has to be considered as a missing focal point for considering development of comprehensive health care systems, and not as an independent private agent, replying only on request of people. A flexible deregulated structure for support of such development was discussed in relation to previous experiences with GP teams as a members of a health centres. A considerable assistance should be given by countries with experience in diveloping general practice by strengthening professional organization, collaborating with community health services, developed educational opportunities and all other supports. The main entry points should be therefold: government, professional organization, educational and scientific institutes.

    Summary: The aim of this study was to identify medical students at Zagreb Medical School who have chosen general practice as their future profession andfactors influencing this decision. Only 12% of the first semester and 21% of the tenth semester medical students have chosen general practice. Those students came from rural areas and from educationally and socioeconomically less developed families. Students with positive attitudes towards general practitioners more often chose general practice. Social and professional status of the general practitioner was the most important factor influencing the students decision.

    Summary: The hypothesis was that hypertonics can predict their blood preassure based on subjective symptoms. 102 patients were encluded in this study. They have been coming to the office for their blood pressure control willingly for one month as long as the study lasted. The examined sample does not differ from the population of hypertonics in a general practitioners office considering the type and the intensity of the disease, complications and the therapy applied. Subjective blood pressure estimate was treated as diagnostic test. Therefore, measure were calculated. Sensitivity was 68,8%, specificity 92,1%, pozitive predictive valuue 93,6%, negative predictive value 69,9% and likelihood ratio 8,7%.

    Summary: The aim of this study is to investigate the position of a family physician within his own family, and how he/she assess the characteristics of his family life compared to other profession. The suvey comprised 44 physicians of general practice/family medicine who anonymously filled the questionnaire. Out of 44 physician there were 34 (73,3%) who were undergoing vocational training (specialisation) in general practice. Different theoretical models on the position of a physician in the family were graded by examinees from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum). The theoretical model "life under the stress of his vocation" was assessed with the highest grade. Tho other theories followed in the folloving order: "The physician is a normal human beeing as everyone else", "rich experience and full life", the physician is a victim of his proffesion" and " the physician plays everywhere the role of litle God". There wos no statistical difference in answers betveen male and female physician.

    Summary: The basic hypothesis of the study is that there are four ways of clinical reasoning encoutered in the work of general practitioners: recognition, verification, solving and searching. The research was curried out by analysis of 1813 real clinical decisions made by 30 general practitioners. The GPs procedures were dependent of the ways of clinical reasoning.     Summary: Medical decision making is a process of reaching a decision regarding prevention, diagnosis, therapy and similar treatment and health promotion procedures. The hypothesis of this study is that decision making in general practice has some particularities in comparison to decision making in other fields of medicine. The goals of this study are to identify the differences in decision making between general practitioners (GP) and specialist in rehabilation, tthe factors that affect thode differences and to contribute to the development of the methodology of the research of decision making. The results have showed that: (1) there is significant differences ni medical decision making done by GPs and specialists in rehabilitation; (2) the factors that influence those differences are: the working conditions, the role within the health care system and having knowledge of the patient; (3) he learning style is not related to the decision making process; (4) the methods that study the real oatients have a notable advantage over the methods that use the simulated patients, video taping has proved to be an useful research tool and does not interfere witnid doctor-patient communication.
