Summary: Epidemiological characteristics of the populations living
onislands (Brač, Hvar) and in continental areas (Sinjska Krajina,Srijem)
described by three sets of variables, have been estimatedthrough the factor
score distributions for each of the variablessets and the corresponding
variability for each region. Theisland were characterized by overweight,
vegetable oilconsumption, lower alcohol intake, lower BP., and higher
bloodglucose. Continental population were in opposite way.

Summary: Survival rates and causes of death during the twenty year
periodfor population groups of islands of Brač and Hvar, andcontinental
areas Sinjska Krajina and Srijem, were assessed.Female cohorts show better
survival than male cohorts, andisland better than continental areas. In
both male and femalecohorts a marked gradient from Hvar to Srijem is shown.
Regardingspecific mortality Srijem appears to be at top of the list.

Summary: Self-Perceived Health of the Studied Cohort were assessed
20years after examination. The self-perceived health was found tobe clearly
related to age and sex, with older people and womenreporting ill health
more frequently. Irrespectively of age,self-perceived health and area of
living were aso interralated, with islands being better in that sense. 5,3%
of the cohort werehealthy-no handicap, 11,6% permanently impaired.

Summary: Data structure representing a genealogy ar genealogies as
astand-alone date structure is presented. Genealogy is consideredas a
finite, connected graph with nodes n(i) representingindividuals, arcs
(n(i),n(j)), ordered pairs of nodes asparent-offspring relationships and
edges (n(i), n(j)), unorderedpairs of nodes as twinships. Algorithms for
genealogy retrievalare classified as vertical, parallel snd lateral.

Summary: Inductive learning method was applied to an
epidemiologicalproblem of forecasting the outcome of 5511 people 20 years
afterexamination. The outcomes were 'alive' as well as categories ofcauses
of death. The accuracy in the prediction in both cases, for male and female,
was pretty high.

Summary: The problem of analysing a small sample of information-rich
caseswith SPAD.T has been presented. Each case has been described byfree
text, i,e, by his/her answer to the question about his/herdiet habits. The
free text has been analysed through lexicaltables of graphical forms
(words). The recognition diet patternof elderly people was successfully
shown.

well defined complex variables were recognized. Theprognostic values were

Title: Genealogical model of epidemiological data analysis
Faculty: Medicinski Zagreb
Author: KUJUNDŽIĆ MIRJANA
Date of defense: 06/08/95
Language: hrvatski
Number of pages: 162
Summary: Three samples of genealogies were analyzed: 132 from Belec
(Hrvatsko Zagorje), 184 broad and 376 narrow genealogies from Ilok.
Genealogies were described by 23 variables reflecting their size, broadness
and homogeneity/heterogeneity. Members were described by anamnestic data,
systematic examination, laboratory findings and interview with closed
questions. Factor analysis showed several latent dimensions describing
horizontal and vertical type of genealogies. More homogeneous genealogies
defined mostly by vertical links, showed greater aggregations of
pathological traits. It was showed that types of genealogies is not
dependent on ethnicity.
