Summary: We have studied the effect of a streptococcal preparation,OK-432, given alone or in combination with hyperthermia on murinetumour and normal tissue. OK-432 after local administrationenhanced the thermal response of murine tumour and normal tissue. This enhancement was greater for the tumour than for the normaltissue, resulting in a favourable differential effect beetwennormal and malignant tissue.
Keywords: OK-432, Picibanil, hyperthermia, biological response modifiers, mouse fibrosarcoma

Summary: Our previous study demonstrated therapeutic gain of intratumoraladministration of OK-432 followed by local hyperthermia. Thepresent study showed that this treatment did not increase theincidence of lung metastases, suggesting that thisthermoimmunotherapy included no risk of increasing the incidenceof lung metastases.

Summary: This paper demonstrated the effect of the macrophage depleteion on the induction of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis in rats. The removal of functionally competent macrophages by special Indian ink or silica, significantly reduces the incidence of the disease.
