Peričić, Danka
Journal: Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy
Volume: 47
Year: 1993
Pages: from 33 to 36
Number of references: 27
Language: engleski
Summary: Ergot-alkaloid dihydroergosine, a potential antidepressive and anxiolytic drug, suppressed humoral and cellular immune reaction in rats, if given in a single injection (2-100 mg/kg) 1 hour after immunization. Plasma corticosterone levels were decreased upon assay of the immune response, 5 or 8 days following treatment.
Keywords: ergot-alkaloid, immune reaction, corticosterone

Title: Serotonin, serotoninergic agents and their antagonists suppress humoral immune reaction in vitro

Pages: from 297 to 304
Number of references: 25
Language: engleski
Summary: Serotonin (5-HT), its derivative 5-methoxy-tryptamine and ergot-alkaloid dihydroergosine suppressed the immune reaction of mouse spleen cells against sheep erythrocytes in vitro (PFC assay). Ketanserin and propranolol, antagonists of 5-HT, also caused suppression, but prevented the suppression by 5-HT.
Keywords: serotonin, ergot-alkaloids, ketanserin, propranolol, immunity

Title: Naloxone interferes with granulocytopoiesis in long-term cultures of mouse bone marrow; buffering by the stromal layer

Authors:
Križanac-Bengez, Ljiljana (157383)

Journal: Research in Experimental Medicine
Volume: 194
Year: 1994
Pages: from 375 to 382
Number of references: 36
Language: engleski
Summary: Cell proliferation was suppressed an the ratio of immature and mature granulocytes to macrophages diminished by the naloxone treatment of long-term cultures of mouse bone marrow cells. The effect depended on the development of the stromal layer and on naloxone concentration, with a bell-shaped dose-response curve.
Keywords: bone marrow, cultured cells, neuropeptides, naloxone

Title: Naloxone behaves as opioid agonist/antagonist in clonal cultures of mouse bone marrow cells

Authors:
Križanac-Bengez, Ljiljana (157383)
Boranić, Milivoj (4493)
Štambuk, Vjera
Journal: Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy
Volume: 49
Year: 1995
Pages: from 27 to 31
Number of references: 18
Language: engleski
Summary: Opioid peptide methionine-enkephalin and the opioid receptor blocking agent naloxone were to unseparated or to progenitor-enriched cell suspensions of mouse bone marrow. Both agents suppressed the generation of granulocyte-macrophage colonies, but naloxone attenuated the effect of the enkephalin. That did not occur in progenitor-enriched cell populations. Bone marrow samples harvested in the period of higher proliferative activity (evening) were more susceptible to the enkephalin and naloxone effects.
Keywords: naloxone, enkephalins, bone marrow cells, cell proliferation

Title: Serotonin and serotoninergic agents affect proliferation of normal and transformed lymphoid cells

Authors:
Šmejkal-Jagar, Lidija (157346)
Boranić, Milivoj (4493)
Journal: Immunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology
Number: 1
Volume: 17
Year: 1995
Pages: from 151 to 162
Number of references: 20
Language: engleski
Summary: Blastogenic transformation of murine spleen cells elicited with concanavalin A was suppressed by serotonin and marginally stimulated by its antagonists ketanserin and propranolol in low concentrations. The antagonists partly blocked the serotonin-induced suppression. On the other hand, the agenst stimulate the proliferation of autonomously growing myeloma cell line.
Keywords: serotonin, serotonin antagonists, cell proliferation

Title: Effect of serotonin and serotoninergic agents on the proliferation of rat lymphoid cells and cell lines

Authors:
Šmejkal-Jagar, Lidija (157346)

Journal: Journal of Experimental and Clinical Cancer Research
Number: 1/su
Volume: 14
Year: 1995
Pages: from 20 to 21
Number of references: 6
Language: engleski
Summary: Serotonin suppressed blastogenis transformation of rat peripheral blood lymphocytes, but stimulated the spleen cell proliferation. The proliferation of a number of rat lymphoid cell lines was (usually) stimulated.
Keywords: serotonin, perripheral blood lymphocytes, lymphoid cell lines, cell proliferation

Title: Enkephalinase blocking agent thiorphan affects cell growth and differentiation in long term culture of mouse bone marrow

Authors:
Križanac-Bengez, Ljiljana (157383)
Boranić, Milivoj (4493)
Journal: Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy
Volume: 49
Year: 1995
Pages: from in to press
Number of references: 40
Language: engleski
Summary: Enkephalinase blocking agent thiorphan was added to long-term cultures of mouse bone marrow cells at the time of culture initiation or 2 weeks thereafter, when the stromal layer appears. After an initial drop, the proliferation and the maturation of the granulocyte lineage was stimulated.
Keywords: thiorphan, CALLA (CD10), enkephalinase

Volume: 6
Year: 1995
Pages: from in to press
Number of references: 67
Language: engleski
Summary: This is a summary of our work concerned with the effects of opioid peptide enkephalin on the proliferation and differentiation of bone marrow cells, accompanied by a survey of related literature. The effects of the enkephalins are compared with similar effects of other hemoregulatory oligopeptides, and related to the presence of an ectopeptidase, enkephalinase (CALLA, CD10) on the hematopoietic cell membranes.
Keywords: enkephalins, CALLA (CD10), hematopoiesis, circadian rhythm

Summary: We measured interleukin 4, total IgG, IgG-albumin relative concentration ratio, and oligoclonal IgG in aqueous humor of patients with uncomplicated senile cataracts and cataracts complicated by previous uveitis of unknown etiology. The values of all mentioned parameters are significantly elevated in aqueous humors of patients with complicated cataracts. The possible implications of our findings are briefly discussed.
