Summary: Cytokeratin-related serotests TPS, TPA and TPA-M were measured together with PSA and PAP circulating markers in untreated and treated patients with prostate cancer. These subjects were randomly chosen and therefore were of different grades (Gleason score 3-10). In all metastatic patients cytokeratin-related marker values were elevated while in subjects with the local disease these serotests were normal. In subjects with diseminated tumor TPS, TPA-M and TPA concentrations were raised in 91.2, 88 and 93.4%, respectively. In sucessfully treated patients with highGleason score (>7)TPS level was normalized soon since these cell contain little amount of cytokeratins 8,18 and 19.In contrast, in responders to androgen ablation with low Gleason score (3-6)a transients elevation of TPS level was recorded from day 3 to day 90 indicating tumor cell death in the circulation and probably in metastatic lesions.Parallelly measured NK cell activity data confirm such conclusions.
Keywords: prostate cancer, cytokeratin-related serotests, differentaiation markers.
