Summary: The arithmetic mean of the entrance and exit dose readings for each location in 60-Co TBI in-vivo dosimetry must be corrected by some factor which depends on geometrical and physical conditions of the applied TBI. Here, the local tissue air ratio method was used. The theoretical method included different sizes of TBI cubic-anatomical phantoms. The practical tables of correcting factors for a number of locations in TBI,based on real scatter (finite width),were presented.

Summary: A theoretical model of an anatomic phantom with variable dimensions (based on a number of cylindrical ellipsoides of the volume V) for TBI in vivo dosimetry, was established. The calculations in the reference phantom (vol.Vo) were compared with measurements in two experimental anatomic phantoms of the same volume and shape (water and polystyrene phantoms). It was found that the ratio V/Vo had a significant role in Total Body dosimetry for all proportionaly sized phantoms.

    Held: from 11/24/94 to 11/26/94
Summary: The concept of Scatter-to-Primary Ratio (SPR) was applied to the broad beam 60-Co gamma Total Body Irradiation (TBI). First the absorbed dose measurements in anthropomorphic water phantom were verified (up to 2.1%) through a reference theoretical model formed of 20 cylindrical ellipsoids. Further, an extrapolation to the proportional sized phantoms of different lengths (1.0-2.0 m) and weights (19-150 kg) was performed. It was found: 1). r/d had almost the constant value, 2.) the geometrical parameter z=rd/(r+d) was defined by 4 Keywords: Scatter-to-Primary Ratio, Total Body Irradiation, Anthropomorphic phantom

    Held: from 11/23/94 to 11/25/94
Summary: Percentage depth doses in the anthropomorphic phantom exposed to 60-Co external gamma irradiation with small beams applied to a part of phantom's body and large total body irradiation beams exceeding the phantom's limits were calculated under the following assumption: There were available dose readings in a number of points in a space or in front of the phantom, as if obtained by personal or stationary detectors in the region of a hypothetical irradiation accident or proposed by dose profile distribution in the case of real radiotherapy treatment. The doses in other points were able to find by linear interpolation.

    Held: from 10/14/91 to 10/17/91
Summary: The absorbed dose calculation was performed for the lung inhomogeneities in cubical phantom representing a man lying on his side as during AP-PA Total Body Irradiation.Different phantom dimensions in volume and sizes (AP:12 to 32 cm),lung cross sections (25 to 400 sq.cm), chest wall thickness (2 to 9 cm) and lung densities, were found to influence the mid plane correction factor. The corresponding values and the presented algorithm enabled the TBI in vivo dosimetry in lung region.

Summary: All dimensions of the constituent parts of the theoretical anatomic phantom in AP-PA 60-Co Total Body Irradiation (TBI) were subject to change (for ex. length 100-200 cm). Theory was based on an improved method of sector integration where the effects of lack of scatter were included (finite width). The difference in Tissue air ratio (TAR) between reference TBI theor. model and the experimental one was 2.1% (average). Mid plane correction factors in proportional phantom sizes were found.

    Authors:
    Vrtar, Mladen (53442)

    Language: engleski
Summary: Aim of the work was to establish a systematic and easy method for determination of Mid Plane Dose and Lung Correction Factors in 60-Co TBI in vivo dosimetry, based on input and output dose readings. The quality assurance analysis of dosimetric results of 230 patients who undergone TBI in a 10 years period, was performed. Ratio of the mean measured dose values of all locations and the stated dose (12.45 Gy, 3 days, 3 fractions) was 0.998, with SD =.033, and the total combined uncernaity of TBI dosimetry (from all sources of error) was 9.4%.
