Summary: Changes were recorded of the concentration of iron in the
serumand of copper in the blood and milk serum of sheep duringlactation.
The concentration of iron proved not to change up tothe third lactation
month when a significant increase in relationto the second month was
observed. In the 4th, 5th, and 6th monthof lactation the concentration of
this element returned to theinitial level, and only during the no-lactation
period did itsignificantly increase. The copper concentration in the
bloodserum proved to be the highest at the beginning of lactation andthen
it significantly went down, the lowest, both in the bloodand milk serum,
having been recorded in the fourth lactationmonth.

Summary: The dependence of calcium absorption in the bovine abomasum
wasstudied in relation to the presence of ferro-(Fe2+)-ions in thecontents.
The in vitro method of bags made of surviving themucous membrane of bovine
abomasum was used for this purpose. Theepithelial side of the mucous
membrane was turned towards theinterior of the bag. The bags were filled
with the combinedsolution of calcium chloride and ferro-(Fe2+)-sulfate.
Thecalcium concentration was always the same (10 mg/100 mL), whilethe
concentration of ferro-iron waried amounting to 2, 5 and10/100 mL,
respectively. The Tyrode solution was usually placedon the external
(Submucosal) side of the bags. The intensity ofabsorption was estimated on
the basis of calcium concentration inthe solution placed from the
submucosal side of the mucousmembrane, after one hour incubation at the
room temperature.Calcium absorption increased gradually with the
increasingconcentration of iron in the form of ferro-(Fe2+)-sulfate,
butthis increase was statistically significant only with theconcentration
of iron 10 mg/100 mL.
Keywords: Calcium absorption, bovine abomasum, influence of ferro (Fe2+)-ions.

Summary: On bags made from the surviving epithelium of swine's
caecum theabsorption of iron from the ferro(II)-sulfate
andferro(II)-serinate solution containing different ironconcentrations (1,
3, 5, 7 and 10 mL) were examined. The similariron absorption was achieved
from the test solutions containing1m 3 and 5 mg/100 mL of iron. The
increase of iron content to 7and 10 mg/100 mL resulted with a further rise
of iron passage inthe direction of absorption. By filling the bags with
theferro(II)-serinate solution with the same iron concentrations aswas done
in experiments mentiond above, the iron passage throughthe epithelium in
the direction og absorption was successivelyincreased as its concentration
rose in the test solution in thebags. It seems that inorganic iron was
previously absorbed by thesaturable process, while chelated iron was
transportedproportionally to the chelate concentration in the contents.

solutionsof different Fe(II) concentrations (1, 3, 5 and 10 mg/100 mL)were
investigated on bags made from the swine's caecumepithelium. Fe(II) was
absorbed from both examined substances. The absorption curve of
Fe(II)sulfate exhibits a saturableeffect, while the curve of absorption of
chelated iron shows alinear passage depending of the concentration of
chelate in thecontent.

Summary: Effect of different sodium concentrations (102.5, 205 and
1,025mg/100 mL) in the contents containing 56 mg P/100 mL as
sodiummonobasic phosphate on phosphate (P) absorption was investigatedon
bags made from the surviving rumen and omasum epithelium usingradioactive
isotope P-32 as a tracer. Concentration Na of 205mg/100 mL slightly
depressed the P absorption in rumen incomparison with other two sodium
concentrations. This effect wasomited in the omasum. In the omasum the P
absorption increasedparalelly with the increase of sodium in the contents.

Summary: On bags made of surviving swine's caecum epithelium the
effect of different sodium concentrations on magnesium absorption was
investigated. Three series of the experiments were carried out in which
magnesium concentration was always the same (10 mg/100 mL) while the sodium
concentration was adjusted to 102.5, 205 and 1025 mg/100 mL. The results of
the experiments were shown that extremely high sodium concentration in the
contents (1025 mg/100 mL) significantly increased the permeability of
swine's caecum epithelium to magnesium ions. This stimulatory effect of
sodium authors were connected with the activity of (Na+K+)Mg2+ATPase, or
with the intensification of magnesium active transport mechanisms in the
swine's caecum epithelium.

Summary: On bags made of the surviving swine's caecum and colon
epithelium the effect of ammonia N in the contents on phosphate absorption
was investigated. The bags were filled with the solution of sodium
monobasic phosphate (10 mg P/100 mL) to which different amounts of ammonia
N (0, 5, 25, 100 mg/100 mL) as ammonium chloride were added. By increasing
the ammonia concentration in the contents the increase of phosphate passage
through the caecum epithelium in the direction of absorption was obtained.
Similar effect was found in the colon up to the ammonia N concentration of
25 mg/100 mL. When 100 mg N/100 mL was introduced into the bags the
statistically significant decrease in the permeability of colon epithelium
for the phosphate ions was achieved.

Summary: On bags made of the surviving swine's caecum epithelium the
effect of iron and sodium ions on phosphate absorption was investigated.
The bags were filled with the solution containing sodium monobasic

sodium concentration in the solution was adjusted to 102.5, 205 or 1025 mg

mg Na/100 mL increased phosphate absorption from the caecum epithelium
independently of iron concentration.
