Summary: Seroepidemiological survey for detection of specific
antibodiesto Toxoplasma gondii in goats was carried out in the
NortheasternCroatia. During the study, 79 goats from 2 selected private
farmsand 100 goats of unknown sex and age were tested by a
modifiedagglutination test.
Toxoplasma gondii antibodies were detected in 13,92 % goats fromtwo tested
farms. Among 100 goats of unknown sex and age, 4 % ofpositives were
detected. According to the preliminary dataobtained during the study we can
consider that the animals areinfected sporradically.

Summary: The study of antibody titers for T. gondii in sheep was
carried out in Slavonia,in the Republic of Croatia, in two different
breeding systems-the farm system and nomadic( sheep originating from
Bosnia). By the serologic method of direct agglutination 334 animals were
examined: the antibody titer >=1:16 was found in 4,79% sheep. In the
animals from the farm the antibody titer >=1:16 was recorded in 11,57%
sheep and 9,37% lambs, whereas in nomadic sheep the antibody titer >=1:16
was found only in 0,49% animals, which indicates a much higher
contamination of the farm surroundings and litter with T. gondii oocystes
in relation to that in the vast expanse of pastures and plough-fields which
are the home of nomadic sheep.
