Summary: Aluminium tolerance of Macedonian durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. conv. durum (Desf.) MacKey) germplasm was evaluated in nutrient solutions containing 0.74 or 148 ŠM of total Al. Relative root length (148 ŠM Al/0 Al) of various genotypes ranges from 41 to 72% (from moderately sensitive to moderately tolerant to Al). No genotype with Al tolerance close to that of very tolerant T. aestivum cultivar Atlas-66 was found. Seed Ca concentration was positively (r=0.64, P<0.05) and seed Fe concentration negatively (r=-0.71, P<0.05) related to the relative rooth growth. Such a significant correlation was not obtained for seed concentrations of other nutrients or seed protein content.

Summary: Research on the influence on the nitrogen fertilization on the nitrogen content and yield of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and radicchio (Cichorium intybus L. var. foliosum) was carried out on several locations in Croatia over a number of years. research on lettuce was carried out in the winter growing season in greenhouses in Zadar in 1985 and in Bjelovar and Đurđevac in 1989, while the research on radicchio started in Zagreb in 1991 and was performed outdoors in the summer growing season. The research results indicated that increased nitrogen fertilization to an increased nitrate content in lettuce and radicchio without significantly increasing the yield, although all the nitrate values were still below the maximum limit prescribed by by the FAO standards and most European countries. Yields of 5,35 - 6,29 kg/m2 of lettuce grown in a greenhouse (during the winter season) and 2,1 - 2,5 kg/m2 of radicchio grown outdoors were achieved by fertilizing with 80 -160 kg of N per hectare.The low levels of nitrate achieved in lettuce (1820 - 2237 mg NO3/kg FW), and less than 1000 mg NO3/kg FW in radicchio grown outdoors, are in our opinon, even more important than the high yields. All this indicates that Croatia,with its existing supplay of nutrients in substrates and soils can, under the prevailing agro - ecological conditins and regardless of the growing sesons and location, produce vegetables for the most demanding world markets.

Summary: Influence of two different formulation of new liquid mineral fertilizer Fertina (Fertina 1 NPK-Mg=4-6-8-2 + B, Cu, Fe, Zn, and Fertina 2 NPK-Mg=10-5-4-2 + b, Cu, Fe, Zn, Mn) on Tagetes patula Nana L. was investigated. Examionation in soil and sand mixture in 2:1 ratio, in experimental pots was done. Application of fertilizer 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0%. A significant more flowers on plants treated with 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% Fertina 2 and 1.5 and 6.0% Fertina 1 in comparison with control ones was found. Fertina 1 in concentracion of 6.0% showed the best result. Otherwisw, 6.0% of Fertina 2 made great damage on plants. Application of Fertina 1 and Fertina 2 influenced better plant growth but only 1.0% Fertina 1 has showed significant better results.
