productivity predictors.Analyses of the same type have shown the
productivitydeterminants' differences between the scientific fields.

Summary: Is the quality of scientific work a latent dimension
ofscientists' gatekeeping roles which have decisive influence onscientific
development? In this empirical study, based on surveydata, hierarchical
factor analysis gave (at the first level) sixfactors of scientific roles,
and one latent dimension of thesecond level, which has been recognized as
scientific prominenceor, very tentatively, as scientific work quality
factor. But itcan be just the roughest indicator of scientific quality.
