Summary: The author studies of painting "The Flagellation of Christ"
fromThe Permanent Exhibition of Church Art in Zadar. Earlier, thepainting
had been attributed to Venetian painter B. Franco. Onthe basis of
comparative material the painting is being put amongthe Emilian manneristic
circle and it was created under thedirect influence of Bologna painters O.
Sammachini and D.Cavaert. The painting by S. de Piombo from S.Pietro
inMonitorio's church in Rome was the original for Zadar"Flagellation".

Summary: A large number of works from the High renaissance bottega
of theBassano family is dispersed in the coastal towns and villages aswell
as on the islands of Croatia. Still, two of them aresituated in the
Strossmayer Gallery in Zagreb. The quality ofthese works varies from the
highest class close to Jacopo's styleto the variously evaluated works by
Leandro and Francesco daPonte, that is, their bottegas. To this group a
paintingrepresenting The Prodigal Son should be added. It is situated ina
private collection in Zadar and it should be attributed toFrancesco and his
bottega.

Summary: The figure of Zadar nobleman Jerolim Soppe (around 1600 -
1669)was illuminated on the basis of archival data as well as his veryrich
painting collection (94) which consisted of portraits (16),sacral (28) and
secular paintings (33). Among the sacralpaintings, there were three
Byzantine icons. The author attributefour portraits from National Museum in
Zadar to this collection,with special emphases on the portrait of Pope
Alexander VII.
