Summary: Study of metal and intermetallic excimers and exciplexes by
analysis of their spectra and other physical and chemical manifestations,
discovers their structure, properties and various collision processes
connected with their formation. We use and develop new methods of linear
and non-linear laser spectroscopy in nanosecond region. We prepare the
molecules as neutrals or ions in vapor mixtures or during the expansion of
vapor into vacuum, with resonant or non-resonant laser radiation present.
We also use laser ablation of metal amalgams to produce plasmas.
Particularly we investigate simple systems like LiZn, NaZn, LiH, NaH or
Li2*+Zn and Na*+H2. We interprete observed spectra by using the
theoretical methods, calculation of potential energy surfaces and quantum
mechanical spectral simulations. Results of our basic research could find
applications in development of new coherent (lasers) or non-coherent
(high-pressure lamps) light sources. We achieved new results in blue
laser curing of composite materials for dental purposes. The powerful
pulsed blue lasers have shown remarkable improvement in the degree of
conversion and the lowering of the shrinkage. In addition to this our most
recent achievements in linear and nonlinear laser spectroscopy enabled us
to start reaserach of NO in internal combustion engines. Many new energy
transfer processes have been studied in the last few years of this project
which now enable us to apply the basic results into the new development of
powerful new light soures and lasers.
Keywords: Laser spectroscopy, Diatomic molecules, Excimers, Diffuse spectra, Photochemical reactions, Energy transfer, Molecular beams, Laser ablation, Laser curing of composites
Research goals: Study of structure, properties and interaction of
atoms and small molecules with methods of pulsed laser spectroscopy. Study
of dynamics of radiative and collisional processes. Development of
molecular beam technique with application of laser ablation of metal
amalgams. Develpment of temporarlly resolved, ultrafast and non-linear
spectroscopy. Application of those methods in study of new molecules of
interest in astrophysics, ecology, environment, biology, medicine and
energetics.
