Three supoporting bolts fix theequipotential plates and the system exhitis vanishing vibrationsand a negligible decline. The low frequency stabilization of highdirect voltage has been implemented controlling the spray voltageby the thyristor transducer. The signal proportional to highvoltage fluctuations changes the thyristor triggering delay anglein the primary circuit of the sptay generator. The mathematicalmodel predictions of the high voltage stability are confirmed bythe corresponding measurements. The achieved stability permitsthe proton implantations experiments and it is a reliable basisfor designing high frequency stabilization even at very lowenergies.

Summary: This paper presents the possibility of using methods ofmulticriterional analysis for estimating and ranking pollution incertain urban and suburban zones and along the coast, based onmonitoring air and sea quality. Certain parameters which definethe enviromental characteristics are treated as criteria to beused for the estimating and ranking by applying a group ofPROMETHEE methods. In order to get a complete insight into the"behavior" of pollution parameters, a programme package GAIA(Geometrical Analysis for Interactive Aid) is used, which enablesthe geometrical presentation of criteria and makes a visualdisplay of clustering and "two dimensional behavior" of pollutionparameters. It is also possible to follow the change of ranks foreach month of the year through graphics interpretation, with thepossibility of changing criteria weight. Direct interpretation ofthe degree of pollution on the geographical maps which isrealized by using pcArc/Info software, makes possible on-line useof this system for needs of the city authorities so thatdecisions on wether or not ban swimming or reduce certainindustrial activities can be made. Thus it is conceptuallysuitable to DSS.

Summary: The papers deals with the presence of heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cr and Cd) in waste water in the Meje and Pošta collectors of the municipal sewarage in Split, in the period from 1984. till 1993. Forty samples from each collectors have been analyzed, and the analysis was performed following the standard methods. The result show that the mean annual concentrations of Zn, Pb and Cd in both collectors were varying above and below the maximum allowable concentrations for the sea water of quality categories III and IV while the concentrations of Cr were within the allowable limits. The daily and the annual pollution load of the southern catchment area of Split have been calculated. Although a drop of metals concentration in waste water had been recorded as early as 1988, as a result of unstable production conditions in the industry of the region (unstable market, irregular power supply), this decreasing trend is expressive in the 1991-1993 period, during which, due to war events, almost the entire industry is stagnant.

Summary: The dependence of the ratio of theoretical predictions to the measured yields in the bremsstrahlung spectrum from tritium decay on the electron-antineutrino rest mass has been analysed. The external bremsstrahlung spectrum from beta-decay of tritium absorbed in titan was measured by a pin-photodiode detector coupled with an improved low-noise preamplifier. The relative detector efficiency and the detector response function were determined by measuring the X-ray spectrum from Am241 source. Theoretical prediction for the bremsstrahlung energy spectrum was obtained by a three-fold convolution of the electron energy distribution, the bremsstrahlung energy distribution for monoenergetic incident electrons and the detector response function. A preliminary upper limit of 50 eV for the electron-antineutrino rest mass was derived.

Certain parameters which define the environmental characteristic are treated as criteria to be used for the estimation and ranking, byapplying a group of PROMETHEE methods. In order to get a complete insight into the "behaviour" of the pollution parameters, a programme package GAIA (Geometrical Analysis for Interactive Aid) is used, Which enable geometrical presentation of criteria and makes possible a visual display on the screen of the grouping and "two dimensional behaviour" of pollution parameters. It is also possible to follow the change of ranks per each month of the year through the graphic interpretation, with the possibility of changing criteria weight. Direct interpretation of the degree of pollution on the geographical maps, which is realized by using the Arc-Info software, makes possible on-line use of this system for the needs of the city authorities in order to bring decisions on banning swimming or reducing certain industrial activities, and thus it is conceptualy suitable to DSS.

Summary: The University of Split as a member of th CMS collaboration at the LHC, participates in RD36 activities on the development of scintillator sampling calorimeter read out by the vave lenght shifting fibres called Shashlik. In 1994. extensive beam tests were carried out to evaluate Shashlik prototype calorimeter as a candidate for the electromagnetic calorimeter for the CMS detector. The measured energy resolution is characterized by a stochastic term of 8.5 %/sqrt(E), a noise term of 0.33/E and a constant term of 0.5% (E in GeV). The reproducibility of the towers performances and the uniformity of the calorimeter response have been studied on a large 25x25 cm2 area. Effects of radiation damage on the Shashlik tower have also been studied. (TO BE PUBLISHED IN FIZIKA B)

Summary: The aim of the RD36 collaboration is to develop a lead scintillator sampling calorimeter read by wave lenght shifting fibres (Shashlik calorimeter) and its associated Silicon strip preshower, and to study their possible implementation in the CMS detector. In 1994., the collaboration has performed measurements of the energy and position resolutions of various prototypes within or without magnetic field. The measured resolution is defined by stochastic term of 8.5%/sqrt(E) (E in GeV), a noise term of .033/E and a constant term of 0.5%. The shower angular resolution is better than 70 mrad/sqrt(E). The reproducibility of tower performances and the uniformity of the calorimeter response have been studied on a large (25x25 cm2 cross section) newly built prototype. New preamplifiers and chips for the Silicon strips readout have been produced and tested. A mechanical design for the CMS Barrel and End-Caps ECAl has been prepared.

Summary: A Cerium Flouride matrix composed on nine longitudinally segmented tower, approximately 25 X_0 long, has been tested in electron, muon and pion beams from 10 to 150 GeV. The results are discussed herein in terms of light yield, electronic noise, energy and position resolution. In spite of serious imperfections in geometry and quality of the crystals, an electron energy resoplution of cca 0.5% has been obtained with Silicon photodiode readout, for energies above 50 GeV. the performance of Cerium Flouride in beams, together with its high density, high light yield and fast respone, radiation resistance and rugged-ness make it presently the best candidate for high-resolution calorimetry at future colliders. The best conditions for production of large high-quality crystals are being studied in several firms over the world. Many CeF3 crystals, 2x2 cm2 or 3x3 cm2 in cross-section and up to 28 cm long, have been received in 1994 from four companies. Some of them had excellent light yield and radiation hardness. Summary: A Cerium Fluoride matrix of 3 x 3 towers with Silicon photodiode readout has been tested in electron and pion beams from 10 to 150 GeV energy. The matrix was assembled with a selection of crystals out of a total of over 40 large crystals (up to 20 cm long and 3 cm x 3 cm in cross section) from various producers. Despite less than optimal geometry and crystal quality, an energy resolution of 0.5% for energies above 50 GeV has been obtained. Fast shaping amplifier prototypes were tested and their performance was found to be appropriate for operation in an LHC enviroment.
