Summary: Experimental/theoretical/field investigationof thermal
anomalies, pollution of a chosen area of the Adriatic Sea. The result of
the investigation is the prediction of the movement of pollution, either of
the existing or the potential one, at various hydrometeorological
conditions. The focus of the proposed research is the possible solution of
the sea pollution by oil at the tanker terminal of the port of Omišalj.
Keywords: ecology of sea, thermal anomalies, pollution by oil
Research goals: In order to research results in a relatively short
period of time, it is proposed to make the research for an aquatoria of
only about 100-200 square km in area. On the basis of the present knowledge
about the Adriatic Sea pollution and the need for ecological research, my
opinion is that priority should be given to Kvarner and Rijeka Bay with the
emphasis being placed on the tanker port at Omišalj. The alternative to
proposed aquatoria is Split Channel and Kaštel Bay. The aim of the proposed
research is: - mapping of sea pollution sources - prediction of pollution
movement depending on hydrometeorological conditions. The contribution
of such researches, and thus of the proposed one as well is: - detection of
what, or who, and in what form pollutes the sea - prediction of pollution
spreading depending on its extent and hydrometeorological conditions -
assessment of the need for taking protection measures against the detected
pollution. Other information about the project.
