Summary: The intention of the project is to improve the production of peptidoglycan type immunomodulators, the synthesis of new derivatives and metal complexes of peptidoglycan monomer, the elucidation of their structures as well as the biological evaluation of immunomodulative, antibiotical and antitumor activities. Scientific contribution is expected in organic synthesis, biochemistry and biotechnology, medicine, pharmacy and analysis.

Research goals: An improvement of the peptidoglycan monomer production, study of biosynthesis and elimination of peptidoglycanic macromolecules in conditions of a continual bacterial growth, column separations, etc. Synthesis of different new biologically active derivatives and metal complexes of peptidoglycan monomer and their patent protection. New active derivatives would improve some defaults of peptidoglycan monomer such as its poor lypophilic character and rapid elimination out of the organism. Besides structure determination of new derivatives and parts of the peptidoglycan monomer molecule it is necessary to evaluate their immunomodulatory, antivirotic and antitumor activities.
