Summary: Thin-layer chromatography (TCL) was used for qualitative andquantitative determination of intermediates accumulated as aresult of glucose bioconversion by bacterial genera Gluconobacterand Erwinia. Bacteria were cultivated in liquid glucose mediumand keto-acids as intermediates were determined on Silicagel Gand Silicagel G plates impregnated with 5 percent meta-phosphoricacid with different combination of solvents.Good separation ofD-gluconic, 2-keto and 5-keto-D-gluconic, 2,5-diketo-D-gluconicacid and D-glucose was achieved. After development and spotseluation, intensity of colours was measured by spectroscopy andresults were evaluated statistically. Results obrained by TLC forD-glucose ans 2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid were comapred bycolorimetric methods on an automated analyser.Good correlation ofthese results were obtained.

Summary: Thin-layer chromatography (TCL) was used for qualitative and quantitative determination of 2-keto-L-gulonic acid infermentation medium accumulated as result of microbial reduction of 2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid by by genus Corynebacterium aswellas L-ascorbic acid prepared by chemical method from 2-keto-L-gulonic acid. Separation of D-glucose and three mentionedacids was achieved on Silica G plates impregnated with 5 percentmata-phosphoric acid. L-ascorbic acid was separated from other intermediates on plates of Silicagel 6o for HPTLC with zonal concentration.

Summary: Horse-radish plant (Armoracia lapathifolia Gilib.), regenerated from a lateral bud of a root explant was propagated in vitro. Leaf fragments cut from 3-6 cm tall plantlets were infected with Agrobacterium tumefaciens, octopine strain B6S3 or with A.rhizogenes, mannopine strain 8196. In two weeks, tumors and hairyroots emerged, respectively. In the light, adventitious budsthrust out of the hairy roots developing into short, bushy plantswith potential for root-formation. Primary tumors continued to grow on hormone-free Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium asundifferetiated greenish tissue or as teratogenous tumor frequently regenerting shoots, but rarely roots. The shoots had freshly leaves and did not develop roots. In all transformed tissues the tottal peroxidase activity was higher that in the normal ones. The enzyme activity reached its maximum when the culture entered the stationary phase of the growth. The result sobtained indicate that the transformed horse-radish tissue could be applied to commercial enzyme production.

Summary: The knowledge emerging from fundamental molecular biology has the most profound influence on the pharmaceutical industry. As the most scientifically oriented, this industry has quickly accepted and applied solutions for development of new technologies and routes for the production of already existing drugs or for producing novel substances for the market. By using cloned microorganisms, new biotechnology opens up the possibility for change of already existing classical technologies like insulin production or offers opportunities for the production substances by new biotechnological route, vitamin C e.g. Cloning ofantibiotic biosynthetic genes also seems to be a promising way for the construction of antibiotic molecules with new properties. Such approach in obtaining new antibiotic can be foreseen.
Keywords: recombinat DNA technology, pharmaceutical products, insulin, vitamin C, antibiotics, gene cloning

Summary: Bacteria from genera Erwinia and Gluconobacter efficiently coverted D-glucose by oxydation to 2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid (2,5-DKG). Biomass of genus Corynebacterium reduced 2,5-DKG to 2-ketoL-gulonic acid. Recombinant dNA technology made it possibleto transfer gene for 2,5-DKG reductase to genus Erwinia by whichD-glucose is directly converted to 2-KLG. New plasmids are descovered from genus Erwinia and new vectors are constructed forcloning in this genus.
