Summary: This project includes investigations on the nature of Croatia, which in common, with culture, makes the Croatian specific heritage. A team of Museum experts (geologists, biologists, information experts), in collaboration with related institutions in Croatia and abroad, intended to continue the rich scientific and research tradition, which had its roots in the l9th century. From the field of geology (16 papers and 1 Sci. M. work) were published contributions about the bauxites from the western Dinarids and Istria; about morphological and crystallo-chemical characteristics of the Fe-, Mn-, Mg-, Ca-carbonates, childrenite and crandallite; about crystal chemistry of Pb- and REE- rich piemontite; about mineral particles in Mesozic carbonates; about eocene sandy deposites of the island Pag and eocene coral fauna; about otnannic Uninonaceae from Jelov Dol; about middlepleistocene malacofauna of Slavonia; about middletriassic ammonite fauna of Žumberak; about the dissappearance of the Neanderthals in the region of Central Europe and few contributions about life itinerary and scientific work of Gjuro Pilar. From the field of the bioscience (34th papers and 1 Sci. M. work) were published contributions of Croatian flora and fauna (at the most of Dinaric, >umberak and the islandic area): about zoogeographical determination and peculiarities of the land fauna of some avertebrata (snails and insects) and vertebrata of Velebit Mts., Paklenica, Biokovo Mts., Gorski Kotar areas and the some islands; about biology and ecology of the amphibian of Žumberak; about biology of the small terrestrial mammals in the various forests communites; about the nature protection of the sea turtles. The results from the field of informatic science (4 papers) were related on the problems of data protection in the computer nets (CARNET and INTERNET) and the making of the gazetteer for Natural sciences surveys in the Makarska area. Continually were published Museum scientific journal (Natura Croatica). In 1994 were printed Suppl. l - Fauna Croatica (Index of the Adriatic Sea Polychaetes) and Suppl. 2 - Flora Croatica (Index Florae Croaticae, Part l). In the year 1995 two numbers were printed and the 3th is in print.

Research goals: The main goal, by using multidisciplinary geological and biological approach, were to come up with deeper fundamental knowledge about the nature (natural heritage) of Croatia.
