Summary: Resistivity, stability and durability of the rock mass in
thefoundation of the Dubrovnik ramparts have been studied in theconditions
effected by different factors, especially by abrasion, erosion and corrosion
of sea water. Individuall treated andestablished different factors are
presented according to theintensity of their action. Intensive action of
sea waves(compression shock), the pressure of crystalization salts
(NaCl),contraction and extension of calcite, vapour pressures in thepore
space and chemo-corrosive influence of sea water need to beparticularly
discussed. Complex and cyclic repetition of theseprocesses occurs in
multiple tectonized and cataclysedstructural-petrographic fabric.
Differential and progressiveeffect of individual processes in only a part
of complexconditions under which the mentioned rocks became weak, weathered
and desintegrated.

Summary: The paper presents a survey of the possible origins of
thestrain and deformation of stone. A range of origins which can
beinfluenced is suggested, from those occurring under naturalconditions in
the deposit to those resulting from technologiesapplied in quarrying, stone
processing and dressing, includingenvironment with natural and tehnogenic
factors. No newinformation can be given on the behavior of the stone
processedand used in building according to the most recent
technologies, because the time-span of its exposure to the influence of
naturaland technogenic factors has been too short.

Summary: This report is a theoretical discussion on the transmission
ofpulling force from the driving pulley to the diamond wire and
theaccompanied conditions caused by this transmission due to
theinterrupting diameter of diamond wire. The fluctuations ofvelocity and
acceleration have been mathematically treated, aswell as the additional
dynamic stresses caused by uniform motionof diamond wire. On the basis of
mathematical treatment and aconcrete arithmetic case the conclusions have
been made on thepossibilities of decreasing these dynamic stresses in
theoperation of the diamond saw wire cutter.

Summary: Dolomite aggregates from quarries Čelina, Podsusedsko
Dolje andJarče polje were subjected to tests of abrasive impact strain
andfreezing. The tests were performed mainly according to standardHRN and
ASTM methods and only partly were unstandardized methodsused. Emphasis was
placed on the determination of the LosAngeles coefficient (KLA), the
crushing coefficient (KD), and there-crushing indexes (Ip), before and
after 25 and 50 freezingcycles. The obtained data (presented both intabular
and graphicform) are a result of structural and textural
petrographicfeatures, genesis and various postgenetic processes,
markedlytectonics (microfracturing and cataclasis) and
recrystallisation. The influence of size, shape and alignance of dolomite
crystalsto abrasion and impact strain was investigated together withcurving
defects, stress twining lamelle and cleavage.

Summary: This paper presents an analysis of a complexity of
interrelatedstructural, petrologic and climatic factors that
considerablyaffect the instabilities in the open cast mine of Gradna,
nearSamobor. The instabilities provoke the slope failures such asslides and
slumps of rock material.
During the protracted periodical investigations, therelationship among the
factors of regional geology, tectonics, structural geology, petrography,
engineering geology, rockmechanics and the rock mining technology was
observed in thearea. The local control of hydrogeologic properties, as well
asclimatic fluctuations of temperature and precipitation on theslope
stability, was also recognized. It turned out that thestructural
relationships, characteristic of the manifoldcataclased dolomite,
stimulated the development of localinstabilities, particuarly during the
period of low temperaturesaffecting the process of ground-water
accumulation. When thetemperatures are worm, the ground-water circulation
is slow, exerting only the small-scale influence on the localinstabilities.

Summary: Dimension stone as a specific nonmetallic raw material,
regarding deposit conditions, exploitation methods and processing, demands
an adequate estimate of dimensioning i.e. optimalization of the
exploitation in relation to the structural elements.
The analyzed and presented examples show that in natural conditions
adaptation of the exploitation technology to the discontinuity fabric could
result in considerable gains in utilicases of highly decorative stone with
good physical and mechanical properties.
The calculated and presented diagrams fit well into world analysis trends
concerning exploitation and processing of dimension stone. This is
confirmed by the improvement of technology for smaller stone blocks can be
exploited and processed profitably.

Summary: Mathematical and graphical methods have been used to
processdata on the rock mass discontinuity, which is one of the
basictectonic characteristics, also other important criterion
forexploration, elaboration, and exploatation of raw-materialdeposits have
been combined, with a preference toarchitectural-building stone quarries.
The classified angles obtained from the spatial analysis of rockmass
discontinuity were compared by means of polynomialregression.
The criterion for evaluation of tectonic fabric characteristicswas
improved with an approximation curve of the polynomialregression obtained
from the distribution curve of relativefrequencies of angles.
This investigation is based on observatins and discontinuitymeasurements
performed in a number of stone deposits; Kirmenjak,Rozalit, Sivec-polje-1,
and Sivac.

Summary: The classified angles obtained from the spatial analysis of
rockmass discontinuity were compared by means of polynomialregression. The
criterion for evaluation of tectonic fabriccharacteristics was improved
with an approximation curve of thepolynomial regression obtained from the
distribution curve ofrelative frequencies of angles. In order to improve
criterion forevaluation of analytical results, a standard tectonic
fabriccurve was constructed, i.e. square parabola. It was followed
bycomparison of data and an approximation curve of the seconddegree by
means of polynomial regression, proceeded by a standardcurve and by means
of absolute and squared discrepancies.
Keywords: Spatial Analysis of Discontinuities, Relative Frequencies, Polynomial Regression.
