Annual range of temperature dependsmostly on the mean temperature of the coldest month. Temperatureprofile Sava - Sljeme shows that the greatest annual amplitudesare in the Sava valey and rapidly decreases on the Medvednicaslope. Normally, the smallest annual amplitudes are in thecentres of the towns. However, "Kolodvor" meteorological stationwas in the Botanical gardens, and the southern part of Zagreb wassparcely built up.

Title: Trends of Urbanization and Regional Distribution of Population in Croatia

    Authors:
    Vresk, Milan (53352)
    Journal: Mainzer Gegraphische Studien
    Number: 40
    ISSN: 0937-6267
    Volume: 40
    Year: 1994
    Pages: from 215 to 228
    Number of references: 6
    Language: njemački
Summary: By using a proportion of the town population in this work the author analyses the degree and dynamism of urbanization in Croatia. He established than in 1991, 54.3% of the population lived in urban settlements. Consequently, Croatia belongs to a group of less urbanized European countries. The author explains this by the delayed industralization and the position of the Croatian urban system in the previous political - territotial systems (Austro - Hungary, Yugoslavia). In the period 1981-1991 the town population increased by 11%, while the total population increased by only 3.5% . This means that the growth of the town inhabitants, in conditions of a low natural growth rate, is conditioned by migrations from village into the town. During the 1991/92, the war being waged by Serbs against the Croats interupted the urbanizational processes. A large number of towns have been destroyed and inhabitants dislocated.

Summary: In January the reduced temperatures in Croatia are in the range from -2 to -1 C in the interior to 9-10 C in coastal belt. The reduced temperaratures arise from the Nothern Adriatic to the Southern Adriatic. In July the cooling influence of the Adriatic Sea is weaker than its warming effect during the winter. The lower temperatures in the interior are the result of cool air streams of maritime polar air from the Nordwest, cooling influence of Alps and stronger nocturnal cooling as well. The annual reduced temperatures are in the range from 10-11 C in the interior to 16-17 C on the Southern Adriatic.

    Pages: from 45 to 56
    Number of references: 11
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: In January due to the advection of cold air from the Nord and the Nordeast the smallest anomaly (<1 C) is evident in the Pannonian Basin and in the largest part of the Peripannonian belt. The greatest anomaly (>7 C) characterises the islands far from the coastline. It is the result of thermic influence of the Adriatic Sea and the warm advection from lower latitude. The annual anomalies are in the range <=2 C to >5 C. In the interior the anomaly depends on the cold advection. The greatest anomaly (>5 C) is in the narrow coastal belt, especially the Kvarner Littoral and Kvarner islands, as well as a part of middle Dalmatia.
