Research goals: There are several aims of the research. The most
important one is to establish the degree, dynamism and the forms of
urbanization in Croatia, as well as spatial differences and effects i.e.
consequences whith emphasis on regional differences. The degree and
dynamics of urbanization will be defined by following parameters: the
growth of urban population, deagrarization, the social restructuring of
population, housing etc. The development of the towns and changes in urban
system wil be analised. A special attention will be paid to the effects of
polarized development and urbanization. In this aspect the magnitude,
dynamics and spatial aspects of rural - urban migration will be analysed.
Special attention will be paid to their effects in the cities as wel as in
the villages. By analysing the traffic system, their influence on the
urbanization and the development of individual cities as well as on the
urban regions will be established. Special attention will be paid to the
coastal towns and the influence of tourism on their development. Their
internal development, environmental protection etc. will be analysed trough
case studies. All these results will be applicated in scientific approach
to spatial and regional planing and to the regional development of Croatia
in general. Other information about the project.
