Summary: The Project is worked out by: Department of Geography Marulićev trg 19/II, 41 000 Zagreb, Republic of Croatia By means of geomorphological mapping of R Croatia in scale 1:100000 (on morphogenetic principle) different types of relief should be detected. It should also be detected which dominant geomorphological processes have been shaping the relief in the past and today. The aim of the mapping is determination of relief evolution and its recent dinamics (shape inclination, relief disection, hypsometric relations, etc.). The final goal is a construction of geomorphological maps of R Croatia in scale 1:100000 with its pervaining explanatory note.

Research goals: The basic object of geomorfological mapping is to identify relief features in the Republic of Croatia, to detect its morphometric, morphogeological and morphogenetic properties as well as its evolution. This would present a foundation for working out of the geomorphological relief features in Croatia, and remarkable promotion of geomorphology as one of the essential scientific branches in Earth sciences. At the same time it would also be one of the basic predispositions for a more succesfull defence and ecological evaluation and valorization. Detailed geomorphological maps would be used (and are already used) in geographical, geological, mining, hydrological, pedological, ecological, water supply, agricultural, forest, civil engineering, spatial planing and defence research works of fundamental and applied nature.
