Summary: In the paper the results of many years of archival and fieldinvestigations in the history of bauxite mining of the threeauthors are presented. It was established that in Istria in thevalley of the river Mirna beneath the Castle of Sovinjak bauxitewas exploited already 400 years ago, and that 1808 about this orethe first scientific account was published. Accordingly, thestatements in the professional literature that the first bauxitemine opened 1873 in the French Provence and that the bauxite orefor the first time was scientifically described 1821 have to berevised. About this necessary revision here the essential proofsare produced.

    Journal: Rudarsko-geološko-naftni zbornik
    ISSN: 0353-4529
    Volume: 7
    Year: 1995
    Number of references: 6
    Language: engleski
Summary: The hydrocyclone of 25 mm diameter has been tested on the laboratory hydrocyclonic device. There have been varied the values of relationship Du/Do, the concentration of feed suspension and the greatness of pressure. With the suspension of fine grindeed limestone and water there have been examined 36 combinations of various values for the mentioned variables. The optimal efficiency of the liquid in the overflow has been achived by the relationship Du/Do=0.73 ranging from 70...80 % with the concentration of the solids in overflow from 0.3...1.5 % and cut size of 0.004...0.006 mm. There have been shown three schemes of separation of drilling fluids proposing the application of multicyclones instead of centrifuges in the final phase of cleaning the fluids.

    Year: 1993
    Pages: from 235 to 246
    Meeting: Doprinos rudarstva energetici Hrvatske
    Held: from 12/03/93 to 12/03/93
Summary: Reclamation of open-pits tailing sites, neutralizing of acid minewater and protection against spontaneous coal combustion arecarried out very succesfully nowadays. New mineral processingtechnologies make possible considerable reduction of ash andsulphur content in coal. The application of the so called "clean"combustion technologies helps reduction of solid refuse mass andgaseous pollutants emission. The protection measures used insingle exploitation stages and the most promissing technologiesof coal processing and combustion are presented.

Meeting: 4. Međunarodni simpozij o novim tehnologijama
    Held: from 10/25/93 to 10/27/93
Summary: New coal combustion technologies as also more rigid regulationsof environmental protection, require coal of higher heating valuewith least possible ash and sulphur content. By traditionalprocessing methods it is possible to achieve 7 to 13% ashcontent, while the major sulphur partion remains in coal evenafter processing. The new processing technologies helps to reduceash below 5% and sulphur below 1%. Some of the most prospectivetechnologies are presented in this paper.

    Meeting: Light Metals 1993
    Held: from 02/21/93 to 02/25/93
Summary: As a result of the expanding metal consumption in the world andthe increasing exploitation of lowgrade ore deposits, miningtailings continue accumulating.Their disposal gives rise toecological problems. Special problems occur with wastes thatcontain various noxious constituents (haevy metal ions, flotationreagens, acids and others), which may seriously endanger thequality of surface and undergruond water. One such waste is redmud, which, besides great amounts of very fine particles andFe-oxides, contains a significant quantity of extremely dangerousNa-oxides. The paper discusses the red mud disposal systemsapplied, in teh areas of former Yugoslavia. Possible noxiousenvironmental influences of these deposits and the protectivemeasures are brought forth.

    Held: from 10/15/91 to 10/17/91
Summary: The work in this project will be undertaken to increase generalunderstanding of design and operating characteristics ofhydrocyclones, especially those with small diameter. Practicalaspects of hydrcyclones design, operation installation, selection, scale-up and spesific applications are to be furtherdeveloped. It is also nedeed to develop applicable model whichwould give reasonable predictions over a wide range of operatingconditions.

    Title: Construction of New Triplanes
Faculty: Prirodoslovno matematički fakultet u Zagrebu Zagreb
    Author: GARAPIĆ MIRJANA
    Date of defense: 04/02/93
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 95
Summary: A very extensive research by computer for a triplane (81,16,3) iscarried out. The main result is: If there a symmetric (81,16,3)designed at all exists, then it has no automorphism group G=A5. The construction of triplane (71,15,3) with the automorphismgroup G=F8*F21 is presented. The folowing results are obtaned:Together with their duals there are nine nonisomorphic triplanes(71,15,3) with the automorphism group E8*F21. One of these isismorphic to its dual.

Title: Investigation of design (121,16,2) and (78,22,6)
Faculty: Prirodoslovno matematički fakultet u Zagrebu Zagreb
    Author: PFAFF SLAVKA
    Date of defense: 04/14/92
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 70
Summary: A design with parameters (v,k,lambda) is such a family of vk-subsets (blocks) of a set consisting of v elements (points)that each two blocks have exactly lambda common points. Theexistence of the design (121,16,2) allowing an automorphism groupisomorphic to A4 has been investigated. It is proved that such adesign does not exist. The complete classification of the design (78,22,6) with anautomorphism group isomorphic to E8*F21 is carried out. Theconstruction of all designs, which is based on the investigationof the group acting, was performed. It was find out that thereare (up to isomorphism) exactly two mutually dual designs of thattype.

Title: Influence of Some Dimensional and Operational Variables on Sharpness of Clakiffication in Hydrocyclone
Faculty: Rudarsko-geološko-naftni fakultet Sveučilište u Zagrebu
    Date of defense: 07/15/92
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 66
Summary: A series of experiments were carried out in an effort to revealthe effects of the major dimensional and operational varibles(cyclone diameter, vortex-finder and apex diameter, feed pressureand solid content of the feed slurry) on the separationpossibilities of a hydrocyclone. The mathematical model developedby Plitt (1976) which consists od four basic equations expressingthe cut size, volumetric split between overflow, volumetricthroughput, and sharpness of separation, was used. The model ismodified for small diameter hydrocyclone, allowing hydrocyclonesoperation prediction without previous experimental work.
