Summary: The purpose of investigations proposed by this project is
to contribute to a better understanding of the theory and practice of
hydrocyclones, especially of such appliances of small diameter. On tools
equipped with hydrocyclones of various geometrical parameters o great
number of characteristics variables shall be examined using different
suspensions. According to the values of individual variables and to results
of analytical and graphical interpretation, both their mutual relations and
influence on the hydrocyclone will be analyzed. A mathematical model
adapted for prognostication of hydrocyclone operations will be constructed.
The variable values by which the best working effect can be attained will
be determined, be it clasification, thickening or clarification. Suspension
samples from different plants will be studied, and optimum hydrocyclone
geometry as well as working regime for clear cases will be determined.
Keywords: Mineral processing, Small hydrocyclones, Classification, Modelling, Applications.
Research goals: The aim of the investigations is to study the
relations between individual constructive and working parameters on the
ground of accessible theoretical insights and experimental work to
determine their influence on the phase separation process in the
hydrocyclone. It is expected that the proposed investigations shall
contribute to the: - better understanding of hydrocyclone theory, -
reliable prognostication of hydrocyclone operation by means of mathematical
models, - application of small-diameter hydrocyclones in
classification, thickening, and clarification.
