Summary: In petroleum industry process like drilling, exploatation andpreparation of oil for transportation, effluent containment withsolid particles, oil and various dissolved matters is anobligatory product. Before it is being disposed off, the effluentis usually refined in order ro return some of it along with somesilt back for further use. Also the bulk of disposed effluent isthus reduced to a minimum. This paper presents various methods for effluent refinery rangingfrom simple ones in which settling basins are used to those withcentrifugal separators and/or application of flotation method.

Summary: From the aspect of the social construction of tehnology theory a specific and relatively rare, but unaviodable phenomena of technological accidents are analyzed. For this type of approach is characteristic thesis of technlogy as social and cultural construct which meaning is given by social and cultural situation of the group. There are three phases of research program of social construction of technology: 1. discovering interpretative flexibility of artifacts, 2. closure and stabilization of technological solution, 3. embedments in wider social context. Accidents are investigated in this model showing interpretative flexibility, i.e. accidents are normal part of every technological system and are the result of complexity of the system because of which multiple failures are present.

    Held: from 11/23/94 to 11/25/94
Summary: Recycling is a technical process for the separation of usable constituennts from waste material with the aim to increase their marketing value. Community waste is a specific kind od waste due to its marked inhomogenity and the small marketing value of the constituents. Therefore, such a waste is deposited or burned, sometimes previously recycled, usually before burning. By recycling the heating value of the waste increases and the amount of ash, slag, and reject gases decreases, so the total mass of waste to be discarded can significantly be reduced. The recycling process includes a rather extensive amount of operations - crushing, sizing, and sorting being the most important. In the paper the devices used in the mentioned operations are described, sorting results are quoted, and flowsheets for three variants of recycling processes are given, with the basic indicators of their efficacity.

    Held: from 09/12/95 to 09/15/95
Summary: The authors have developed and elaborated a new method of measuring the intensity of soil pollution with oil, considering specific conditions under which the process of pollution production, collection and transportation of hydrocarbons take place in so called small oil fields. Experimental research in dry and soil-saturated soil samples leads to the discovery of a new methodology that enables very simple experiments in field and laboratory conditions. On the basis of ten equations obtained by this methodology, it is possible zo get desirable pollution quickly and easily.

    Meeting: Energija i zaštita okoliša
    Held: from 10/26/94 to 10/28/94
Summary: The most objections against coal as a fuel are related to emissions of dust, slag, ash and SO2 and NOx components. A decrease in the emissions of these pollutants can be achived by coal benefication, aplication of new combustion techniques and cleaning of flue gases. The flying dust is eliminated by electrostatic precipitators and bag filters, the SO2 compounds by dry and wet adsorption methods and the NOx components by selective resp. nonselective catalytic reduction. In the paper the methods developed during the last years are presented, with some of them still in a test stage. One is a NOXSO process, where for the elimination of SO2 and NOx compounds an adsorbent on alumina basis is used, whilst in an other method for the elimination of SO2 and CO2 an aerogel of a large specific surface is used. In the SNOX process, developed in Denmark, NOx is eliminated by selective catalytic reduction and the SO2 is used in the fabrication of sulphuric acid. Aplicating these processes it is possible to remove 90 to 97% of SO2 and 70 to 95% of NOx while the emission of flying ash can amount to 1 mg/m3 gas.

Summary: Reclamation of open-pits, tailing sites, neutralizing af acid mine water ond protection against spontaneous coal combustion are carried out very succesfully nowadays. New mineral processing technologies make possible considerable reduction of ash and sulphur content in coal. The application of the so called "clean" combustion technologies helps reduction of solid refuse mass and gaseous pollutants emission. The protection measures used in single exploitation stages and the most promissing technologies of coal processing and combusting are presented.

    Author: MUVRIN BORIS
    Date of defense: 12/29/93
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 145
Summary: Due to possible extent of the pollution by hydrocarbons in oilfields, a simple prognosing method is proposed in order toestimate the spread and depth of pollutant penetration into soiland eventually into groundwater. The suggested method can besimple applied on oil fields, because it does not require acomplex and expensive equipment. The interpretation of obtainedresults is simple as well. It has been proved by laboratorytests, that the results can be achieved in a very simple waysatisfying by their accuracy in comparison with other inliterature known mwthods which are considerably more complex andexpensive.

Summary: Two methods of the transport of the pollution in saturated porousmedia are analyzed: finite element method and random walk method.Computer programs are made for both methods. The programs arewritten in MS FORTRAN 5.0 and installed on PC AT. Programssimulate a transport of tracer in stationary plane flow ofgroundwater. It is understood that the process of the flow isresolved prior to the transport and it is necessary to know thepiezometer head in the proper points of the region.
