Summary: The industrial use of heat energy in Croatia is yearly
about 235 PJ or 8 MtCE. The efficient application of thermal energy can be
considerably improved by condensate waste heat recovery. The following
termodynamic calculation shows that the amount of fuel for steam generation
is reduced about 10%, when the industrial condensate is returned to the
boiler. Except fuel saving the improvements in regard to environmental
conditions, i.e. air and water pollution are shown.

Summary: Improvements in energy efficiency are insignificant in
terms of its large potentials and current needs because of a very difficult
situation in the electric power system. The paper examines why an interest
for improvements in energy efficiency is so poor and tries to indicate the
barriers to improvements in energy efficiency of electrical power systems
and the ways which could change that situation.

Summary: The procedure for air-flow determination in hydro
generators by the integration method is described, and improvements in the
method aimed at achieving improved accuracy are proposed. The accuracy of
the method is discussed on the basis of experimental results on typical
hydro generators. Based on long-term experience with measurements on hydro
generators, another method for air-flow determination, known as the coolers
characteristic method is proposed. Its basic advantages are better working
conditions and the possibility of providing automatic measurements. Some
experimental results show that it could have a sufficient degree of
accuracy.

Croatia as also further cogeneration possibilities in Croatia are
described. The development of large systems, connected with big towns is

is observed in small cogeneration systems. These systems with natural and
biogas or small gas turbines are located where except electrical and
thermal energy also process steam is needed.

losses, have remarkable influence on the energetic performances of
hydrogenerators. On the basis of experimental investigations the most
significant impact parameters are discussed and computational models for
determination the ventilation losses of air-cooled hydro generators are
given in the paper. Some possibilities for reducing of losses in order to
improve the energetic performances are presented. The using of given

Summary: To prevent corrosion effects of sulphur trioxide below the
dew point temperature, an ammonia-air mixture is efficient, instantly
neutralizing sulphurous acid components. The import of the mixture into
flue gases was executed on temperatutes below 623 K. Contents of sulphur
trioxide, dew point and mass loss of inserted ferrous plates were observed
and sulphuric acid was determined in waste water being used for air-heater
rinsing. By applying ammonia in a certain concentration the dew point is
significantly lower while corrosion prevention certainly is higher, thus
the temperature of outgoing gases may be lower leading to increase
defficiency of boiler plant.

Summary: The drying of sensitised materials requires uniform air
flow velocity, tempereture and moisture contents. The recirculative process
is also one which indicates that a significant degree of fuel conservation
could be achived with respect to simple conventional drying. In present
study comparison of fossil fuelled and solarized recirculative drying
process is provided. When using the same collector area, a fuel requirement
during the winter season will be approximately 85% and in transition period
38% . Solarized recirculative process has the capability to achive yearly
fuel saving of about 47%, using the collector area for the highest
intensity season.

Summary: This paper shows the energy management program organization
for successful implementation in industry. It must be prepared the energy
plan, established new and achievable targets, identified priorities and
education before investment.

Held: from 10/26/94 to 10/28/94
Summary: In presented article the optimization of evaporation
process using dry saturated steam is carried out. By using flash vapor in a
multiple-effect evaporation the significant amount of heat is recovered.
The comparison of specific steam energy consumption by single and
double-effect process is given.

Summary: The investigation of heat energy consumption for
conventional fueled and solarized industrial process without and with
condensate heat recovery is provided. Based on relevant data the presented
calculation results with about 9% fuel savings using natural gas fueled
process with condensate heat recovery. Fuel savings of the solarized
process without condensate recovery is 49% and with condensate recovery
54%.

Summary: The general procedure for setting the system of independent
equations that mathematically describe the ventilating mesh is worked out
in details. The developed procedure is based on the application of graph
theory to ventilating mesh as a geometrical model of the real fluid flow
system. The procedure is illustrated on a simple mesh but could apply to
ventilating meshes of any complexity.
