Summary: The monthly average values of the utilizability
functionconcerning the photovoltaic system have been calculated for
theconstant average daily load. This was done by using the measuredhourly
global and diffuse incident solar radiation data on ahorizontal surface.
Based on this calculation the PHI-diagram wasobtained for the observed
region. The computer simulation programwas developed and utilized to
determine the diagram of energydissipated in the photovoltaic system for
several ratio values ofthe battery storage capacity and the average load.
The amount ofenergy disposable to the consumer and the amount of
conventionalenergy displaced by the photovoltaic array have been estimated.

Summary: Through computer simulation of energy in a photovoltaic
systemwith storage battery, the monthly average daily amount of energythat
would have been dissipated if there were no storage, isderived. That energy
is also computed on the basis of utilityconcept and results are compared
with those obtained by thesimulation. The presented comparison proves also
the validity andreliability of the whole computer model applied to
thephotovoltaic system.

Summary: In operation, the solar cell temperature rises to the
equilibriumlevel at which the heat outflow plus the electrical output
equalthe solar energy inflow. The maximum amount of power which isconverted
into electricity depends upon the cell's operatingtemperature. In this work
are presented the results relating tothe various operating temperatures,
obtained on the basis of themeasured values for maximum output power
voltage and efficiencyat the reference temperature.

Summary: In this paper, the monthly average values of the
utilizability function are calculated for a photovoltaic system using the
hourly values of eight years period data for global and diffuse solar
radiation incident on a horizontal surface in the region of the Adriatic
Coast. According to these calculated values, the coefficients in the
approximate expression for the utilizability function are determined and
the PHI-chart is developed.

Summary: In estimating the energy in a photovoltaic system the
computersimulations are used, but in some cases the simple graphicaldesign
methods can be applied. One of those methods is thePHI-chart. In this paper
the PHI-chart was determined using thehourly global and diffuse solar
radiation data. The excess energyfor the photovoltaic system was estimated
using the PHI-chart. Bythe computer simulations the amount of energy
available to theload and the amount of excess energy depending upon the
ratio ofbattery capacity and load were determined.

Summary: In order to simulate and optimize the work of the
photovoltaicsystem it is needed to define the models of its structural
parts:panel, battery and load. In this paper simulation model has
beendeveloped in such way that any kind of load can be included(ohmic
resistance, current load, power load). The photovoltaicarray model is
defined by its current - voltage (V-I)characteristic as a function of solar
radiation level and ambienttemperatrue. The battery model is described by
the empiricalexpression including the current - voltage dependence,
capacity, and losses which accure during the process of energy
accumulationand consumption.

Summary: In this work the measurement results showing the amorphous
silicon module output parameters degradation are given. Fifty modules were
exposed to natural sunlight during the period of two years and being tested
separately every day under standard test conditions (STC): insolation =
1000 W/m2, module temperature = 25 degrees Centigrade, air mass = 1,5. For
each measurement the solar simulator used in the experimental set up had
been calibrated by the Reference Standard module previously calibrated
against SERI( Southern Electric Research Institute - USA) Reference
Standard. The outdoor exposure of the modules has been investigated for
both open and short circuit conditions.
