strains

Summary: The torsional oscillation computation for one combined
networkdisturbance is shown for five different turbogenerator sets.
Themodes of torsional modal vibrations, the electrical air-gaptorque
responses and the shaft torques at coupling zones for thedisturbance
mentioned are presented for the nuclear power plant(NPP) Krško. Performed
computations show that the torsionalstrains should be computed separately
because each turboset hasits own vibration mode.
Keywords: turbogenerator torsional strains, network disturbances
Title: The Analyses of Retardation Consequences on Turboset with
Field Current
- Authors:

Summary: The consequences of 376 MVA turbine-generator set
retardation are analyzed. Turboset was disconnected from the network
because of electrical system disturbance but owing to field current switch
failure, excitation wasn't switched off. Using computer's program, rotor
and stator winding heating are computed and influence of overheating on
insulation is evaluated. The time of retardation and field current value
limiting are the most important factors in this case. Rotor temperature was
not higher than 159C assuming the duration of retardation with excitation
was 10 min. Stator heating was within the limits taking into account the
changing of stator losses.

Summary: Regarding to description of the CIGRE Study Committees
activities, at the end of the year 1993 in Paris a new entry of "quality
assurance" appeared as a field of activity in STK 11 - Rotacijski strojevi.
The article discusses the possible scopes and ways of activities on the
field of contemporary quality assurance conception and other actions in the
SC 11, as well as the work organization in a small National Committee in
the frame of CIGRE.

Title: Necessity of Overspeed Test of the Electrical Rotating
Machines
- Authors:

Summary: Overspeed test is procedure which confirms the rotor
monolithism and the function of other machine parts which take part
actively. The test is performed with the highest possible expected speed
which machine can experience during operation. Specifications of the
overspeed tests are standarized by international standards. Latest edition
of IEC 34-1 1994 standard is repeating the conclusion of former editions
that overspeed test is normally considered as not necessary, but can be
performed when agreed upon and specified so between manufacturer and
customer. Therefore, the request should be pointed out regarding design of
machines withstanding the speed standarized by this standard. This report
considers elements influencing the decision on performing the overspeed
test with their comprehensiveness.

Title: Improvement of Design Process of Synchronous Generator
- Authors:

Summary: A design of a synchronous generator consists of a series of
actions by which the generator is dimensioned, its parameters are computed
and design documentation produced. For a large generator, it is almost
always necessary to make new design according to customer requests. These
requests are becoming more and more detailed and stringent, and terms for
the design and tendering documentation production are shorter. In many
cases the machine is designed only to make commercial offer, and the
machine is never built. Regardless to this, high quality technical
documentation is expected. If the ofer is accepted, a little can be changed
afterwards. It is therefore important to make the best possible design at
this stage. In this process the use of computers has become necessary, and
the best solution represent incorporation of different design processes
into a unified information system. Such system enables simple data input,
computation and presentation of different parameters and also survey and
use of data and solutions of earlier designs. The design and documentation
production process is accelerated. The designer communicates with the
system interactively, by means of menus and data editors. The requests upon
the designer regarding the knowledge about software system configuration
are minimal.
