The resistance of materials to overloads can be expressed throughthe

Summary: The gas dielectric sulphur hexafluoride, which is used in a
number of electrical devices and apparatus, must be pure both in its
condition at the delivery and in usage, with minimum permissible additives.
Due to dielectric discharges, highly aggressive degradation products are
produced during operation of SF6-filled devices, and they have very
negative effects on the life and functionality of the device. In the
process of SF& purification, a majority of impurities and additives are
successfully bound with the selective adsorbent.

Summary: When testing porcelain electrical insulators of known and
unknown origin and quality, and when adopting and improving the production,
it became evident that the existing standardised methods do not provide
enough data for making evaluations.
Therefore the testings were extended by composition and structure tests
using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. It has been
concluded that the attained crystalline structure is essential for the
quality of finished electric porcelain insulators.
