Summary: The paper discribes a method based on the theory of
Kovalenko'spiecewise-linear processes to find the ergodic distribution
inthe M/G/1 queuing system. The ergodic probabilities are computedon the
basis of mean values of times spent in different statesfor a busy period.
In order to determine these mean values oftimes a reccurence relation is
obtained.

behaviourmodelling in models of parallel computing systems.
Differentaspects of program behaviour and possibilities of their

Title: Simulation Modelling Software Approaches to Manufacturing
Problems
Faculty: London School of Economics University of London
Author: HLUPIĆ VLATKA
Date of defense: 07/22/93
Language: engleski
Number of pages: 333
Summary: The thesis investigates which characteristics
typicalmanufacturing simulators possess, and how the user requirementscan
be fulfilled better. For the purpose of software evaluation,a case study
has been carried out on a real manufacturing system.Several simulation
models of an automated system forelectrostatic powder coating have been
developed using differentsimulators. A comprehensive evaluation framework
has beendeveloped to facilitate selection of simulation software
formodelling manufacturing systems. Different hierarchies ofevaluation
criteria have been established for different softwarepurposes. A survey has
been conducted involving a number of usersof software for manufacturing
simulation. A methodology forsimulation software selection was derived, and
propsals on howmanufactoring simulators can be improved are made, both
foreducation and for industry.
