Summary: Project is aimed at the recent problems in the field of the
computer control within the machine tool industry and carried out in
cooperation with the Machine Tool Factory - INAS (former "Prvomajska")
Zagreb. The research was related to the several groups of problem: studies
and evaluation of architecture and performances of the recent industrial
computer control systems and their application in control of the turning
machining centers and related manufacturing cells; control analysis and
reconstruction of the flexible manufacturing system FOS-630-INAS and its
qualification for productive work; application development of the reliable
communication procedures applied in computer networking through industrial
local area networks; research and procedures development concerned with
computer vision for workpiece recognition and detection of its position
and orientation; Research of design and manufacturing methods regarding
the most complex forms in part production.

Research goals: Research of methods and determination of procedures
for the realisation of computer control functions for complex machining
with the specific numerically controlled machine tools and flexible
manufacturing cells. Development of application of the user interfaces for
interactive development of the part programs, machining simulation and
machining monitoring. Development of application of the reliable manner of
transfer of the working programs through the local area network. Research
and development of suitable software for the position and orientation
detection of parts and machine tools and working objects recognition.
Research of digitizing methods applied on physical models used in
computerized modelling of the complex part forms and their later
machining.
