    Summary: Compromise requirements for antialiasing filter are solved by an optimization of transfer function. This transfer function is realized by an active filter structure with properties which permit the use of the filter with 12-bit analog-digital converter. The complete realization and construction of 4 channel filter-set with digitally controlled cut-off frequencies is described.

    Summary: This work describes a realization of an industrial single board computer which integrates all standard PC architecture components (Intel 486 processor, cache and main memory, Super VGA graphics controller, I/O controller), as well as additional circuits neccessary for industrial applications (LCD display controller, RS485 interface, high speed serial communication lines, touch-screen and matrix keyboards, watchdog timer, alarm and reset circuits). Some of these additional circuits are realized using microcontroller which simultaneously implements new functions and emulates standard PC computer keyboard interface. Presented computer is completely compatible with all application software for standard PC computers, and all standard peripheral devices (IDE hard disks, floppy disks, ISA expansion bus).

    Summary: In this paper an approach to digital harmonic analysis with additional processing of DFT samples is proposed. DFT samples of the analyzed signal are fitted with spectral function of the window used for signal truncation. The fitting is optimized on the basis of the least mean square error. The peak and the position of the fitted window spectrum are used for determination of signal amplitudes, frequencies and phases. The spectrum analysis was simulated using various spectral components and window lengths and types. The accuracy and the frequency resolution of the proposed method are favorably compared to interpolation methods.

    Summary: An 8-bit monochrome frame grabber is described in this paper. The frame grabber is realized as a 16 bit ISA bus card for personal computer (PC). Analog preprocessing of the video signal includes brightness and contrast adjustments, DC restoration, and chroma carrier filtering for PAL signal. Sampling clock is programmable and is synchronized to the beginning of the /video line. Control logic enables picture framing of programmable size and position and a single picture frame buffer is also included on the board. Digital hardware is realized using programmable logic cell array (LCA). Fast communication between the PC and the frame grabber is realized, enabling live video acquisition and storage.

    Summary: This program runs on the UNIX system with a floppy disc unit. It enables simple data transfer between UNIX system and CP/M floppy disc. It simulates one part of the CP/M operating system and some of its resident commands. It also has two additional commands for data transfer. There is a possibility to adjust the program to any logical CP/M disc format. The parameters of the logical CP/M disc format are stored in the special format file.

    Summary: This paper describes a simple auto adaptive method for compensating signal distortion caused by transfer function of the transmission media. The method is especially suitable for highly nonlinear or noisy systems. It includes media transfer function identification by a suitably chosen test signal, and the inverse system realization. Processing of the received signal by the inverse system eliminates signal distortion and introduces pure delay only. All signal processing is performed by a digital signal processor.

    Summary: Organizational and program aspects of a complex digital system for measurement of physical quantities are discussed, for a system with a large number of sensors distributed over a wide area (more then 1000m in diameter). The system should acquire, display, store and process signals with bandwidth from DC to ultrasonic frequencies. Hardware is based on dedicated digital signal processors. To cover a large measuring area, system must be build as a distributed measurement system. The problems concerning low-level software (device drivers), as well as the system software are solved differently then in other commercial measuring systems.

    Summary: This paper describes a synchronization method based on phase relations of few harmonic frequencies. It can be used for synchronizing two systems connected with a simplex, bandlimited, analog transmission channel. The methods with two and three cosine signals are explained and compared to the one that uses a single cosine signal. The accuracy of these methods, as well as the allowed phase deviations of synchronization signals, are discussed for the case of a real media. An example of the method with three cosine signals is given.

    Summary: This paper describes a method for synchronization of two independent systems, connected with a band limited, analog channel. The method is based on the determination of the block synchronization delay, calculated from the phases of a few cosine signals, sent by the transmitting system along with a block of data. The following topics are discussed for the general case: the sensitivity of the method to the effects of a real transmission media, the permitted phase deviations, and the principle for the optimal selection of the number of synchronization signals and their frequencies.

    Summary: The paper describes a robust method for distance measurement and positioning. The basic principle of the proposed method is similar to the one used in geodetic instruments (geodimeter and tellurometer), with the fundamental improvements: reduced sensitivity to the atmospheric conditions, reflection and interference with other signals and the ability of time-continuous distance measurement for applications such as moving target ranging. It is based on time delay calculation from the phase shift of several harmonically related signals. The measurement is performed simultaneously for all harmonic signals. Method can be applied in microwave and laser beam based instruments.

    Summary: This paper describes a digital signal processor (DSP) based distance measurement method and its realization using a custom hardware. Method is based on time delay calculation from the phase shift of several harmonically related signals. Problem of phase shift determination is a computationally intensive task, and the aspect of real-time distance measurement, based on proposed DSP realization is investigated. Accuracy and execution time of the method is analyzed as a function of a various method parameters.

    Summary: This paper describes the realization of hardware for clock distribution among units of distributed measuring system. Two frequencies are transmitted by the same coaxial cable. Cable system could cover area of 1 square kilometer with branching off to limitless number of branches in two points. The highest frequency of signal to be transmitted is 10 Mhz. As transport medium a floating coaxial cable is used so the system is not sensible to interference.

    Summary: A synthesis procedure fir designing the biquartic band-pass (BP) active filter blocks containing two operational amplifier, is presented. Compared to the order known aproximate method it results by a network having the exact transfer function.     Summary: The criteria for optimization of the antialiasing filters are proposed. The optimization on the basis of the aliasing error, pass-band specifications, impulse response symmetry and undershoot error is performed. The obtained sixth order filters suitable for 8 and 12 bit A/D converters are given for an illustration of the results. The main advantage of such compromise filters is that for a given aliasing error and pass-band, they will enable low sampling frequency, while preserving a good time response.

    Summary: An 8-bit monochrome frame grabber is described in this paper. The frame grabber is realized as a 16 bit ISA bus card for personal computer (PC). Analog preprocessing of the video signal includes brightness and contrast adjustments, DC restoration, and chroma carrier filtering for PAL signal. Sampling clock is programmable and is synchronized to the beginning of the /video line. Control logic enables picture framing of programmable size and position and a single picture frame buffer is also included on the board. Digital hardware is realized using programmable logic cell array (LCA). Fast communication between the PC and the frame grabber is realized, enabling live video acquisition and storage.

    Summary: A scheme for implementing a perfect reconstruction QMF bank is based on an uniform DFT L-band analysis filter bank realized using a polyphase decomposition of a lowpass L-th band filter composed of stable allpass subfilters followed by a L-band synthesis filter bank realized using the transponse of the analysis filter bank with the allpass filters replaced by their inverse filters. In the subband coding of finite-length sequences, the instability problem of the inverse filter can be avoided by using the original stable allpass filter in each branch of the synthesis bank with time-reversed input and output. Conditions for perfect reconstruction are derived and illustrated with examples.

    Summary: Many applications of Discrete Fourier transform require spectrum with larger number of samples then the number of signal samples. Interpolation of additional samples in spectrum is one of the possible approaches. The most computationally effitient way is to execute interpolation successively i.e. by a cascade structure using short interpolation sequences. In this communication the interpolation sequences needed for cascade structures are considered. First, the optimal ones based on half band filters and second the sequences with integer coefficients. The interpolation algorithm is reviewed and the required number of multiplications is determined for the above filters and compared with pruning and perfect interpolation techniques.
