Summary: Research on the project: "Systems and Aghoritms in
Measurement and Signal Processing" in the period 1994-95 can be divided in
5 groups: 1. Digital Signal Processing. In the area of DSP, following was
developed: a) Novel methods for accuracy enhacement of the digital
harmonical analysis. b) An image receiving system from meteorological
satelites was realized. c) A novel approach for the antialiasing filter
optimization was suggested. d) Wavelet transform were studied for the
purpose of application in the DSP. 2. Digital Image Processing. a) A
method for shape description by means of the morphological signature
transform was applied to the problem of 3-D CT image registration. b)
Procedures were developed for the intelligent biomedical image analysis.
c) New methods for morphological shape analysis are developed. d)
Algorithms for fast object labeling and fast contur extraction from gray
scale images were developed and implemented. 3. Measurement Systems. a) A
special purpose measurement system controlled by PC was developed.
Software for mesurement, signal analysis, diagnostics and setting of
measurement parameters was developed, too. b) A new robust distance
measurement method was proposed. 4. Information Networks. a) A study of
development of the Croatian academic information networks was done, as a
part of the CARNet project. A number of testing based on ATM and other
network equipment were done, for the purpose of further development of the
network. 5. Analog Sygnal Processing. a) Biquartic band-pass active filter
blocks based on the realization using Sallen & Key second-order sections
were studied.
Keywords: digital signal processing, digital image processing, measurement systems, information networks, analog signal processing
Research goals: 1. Digital Signal Processing a) The research goal
was to develop more accurate methods for the harmonic signal analysis. b)
Solve neccessary processing for the receiving of meteorological satelite
images. c) Find optimal antialiasing filters based on constraints on time
and frequency response. d) Study the Wavelet transform for the purpose of
multiresolution signal analysis. 2. Digital Image Processing a) The
research goal was to develop new methods for the shape analysis based on
mathematical morphology. b) Develop procedures for intelligent biomedical
image processing and analysis based on the use of clustering methods and
neural networks. c) Develop algorithms for 2-D and 3-D shape
representation using multiresolution morphological image processing. d)
Develop and implement algorithms for object extraction faster than already
known. 3. Measurement Systems a) Develop a special purpose measurement
system controlled by a PC. b) Propose a robust distance mesurement method.
4. Information networks. a) The research goal was to choose optimal
information network technologies and equipment for further development of
the CARNet. 5. Analog Sygnal Processing. a) The research goal was to
investigate the sensitivity of the biquartic band pass filters realized by
two operational amplifiers using Sallen & Key second order sections.
