Summary: After a presentation of the target of the project "Energetic andEnvironmental Assesment of Buildings and Settlements" thecriteria for assesment are compiled in Chapter 2 and a system ofcredits for quantifying the assesment criteria is outlined inChapter 3. In Chapter 4 calculation procedures for the energeticand environmental assesment of buildings are described. With the assesment procedures a competition for architects forthe planning of solar settlements shall be prepared. By settingassesment criteria and their quantification impulses shall begiven for the planning and realisation of buildings for varioususes (complex of buildings with blocks of flats, commerciallyused buildings, administrative buildings and social institutions)according to energy saving and environmental criteria and underspecial consideration of the meteorological conditions in theplace of its use as well as building traditions.

Summary: The appreciation of the climatic factors characteristic for theentire region has been highly significant not only for theproject engineering and the operation of heating and air -conditioning units but also for the construction of thebuildings. Only with the scientific investigation of the effectsof the relevant meteorological parameters it is possible toachieve such a heating and air - conditioning system as tosatisfy all economic, hygienic and physiological requirements. The heat loss and gain estimates in heating and air -conditioning have been analysed with the critical approach to theelements expected to unite the simultaneous influences ofdifferent meteorological parameters. The existing data for theheat or the cooling output have shown that peak loads particiallynever or very seldom occur. By establishing the test referenceyear such disadvantage has been eliminated, since themeteorological parameters composed of the most typical months ina 10 - year sequence provide for the "typical", least extrememonths in that period. Such a year, composed of the most typicalmonths in a 10 - year sequnce is called the syntetic referenceyear. The selection of the reference year with the characteristicmonths, representing the homogenous sequence has rendered thereal values of all meteorological parameters together with theirnatural changes and interrelation. Thus all the requirements fora reference year showing daily, monthly and annual naturaloscillations of all meteorological parameters have beenfulfilled.

Summary: Former investigations and experience in jet pump constructionshave shown that the thermocompression of this type is marked byconsiderable losses, but on the other side it is a notorious factthat the apparatus does not consist of moving parts and thus issimple, low cost investment and lasting exploitation. As thethermodynamic eficiency is the only indicator of the sources andconsequences of losses in relation to the capacity of theapparatus i. e. the suction ratio, the analysis and evaluation ofthe thermodynamic efficiency is set as the basic purpose of theinvestigation.

Summary: Combined use of the hermoenergetic block system (designed forthe heating and electric energy production), heat pumps and thelatent heat storage, represents the optimal mode of the energyutilization. As the electric energy production depends of theconsumption (which is variable during the day and night), the"waste" heat, produced by the internal combustion engine whichruns the electric generator is variable too. The systemconsidered in this paper includes the latent thermal storagetanks, which enable thermal energy transfer from periods with lowenergy consumption to periods with higher energy consumption.Calculations performed for practical examples, shown in thepaper, lead to the conclusion that the considered combination isexcellent solution from the viewpoint of the energy utilization.

Summary: The Northern Adriatic region presents a typical example of adisturbance in the natural balance of the environment, this beingdue to development and concentration of industry, urbansettlements and touristic area needs to be properly managed tominimize the negative effect on the environment, especially in ahighly porous karstic terrain (sea and ground watercontamination). In order to ensure proper management of thewaste, it is necessary to survey waste in the area and evaluatealternative waste management/disposal techniques. Two possibilities of waste treatment have been investigated;energy production and usage in agriculture. In this paper someremarks concerning waste usage as fuel has been given.

Title: OPTIMAL USE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES BY MEANS OF THE HEAT PUMP
Faculty: Tehnički fakultet Rijeka Sveučilište u Rijeci
    Author: PAVKOVIĆ BRANIMIR
    Date of defense: 03/26/93
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 108
Summary: In this paper possibilities to utilize heat from the air, soil, ground water, surface water and solar energy as the evaporatingheat source in the heating systems using compression cycle heatpump were analysed. Calculations performed by using the computer enabled theevaluation of the hourly heat consumption of the heated house andthe heat demand for the consumption water during the year. In the calculations performed to simulate the heat pump system, the hourly heat consumption was used to determine the requiredevaporating heat from the heat source and the electric energyconsumption for the compressor and the heating system (pumps, fans, etc.) operation. To enable the determination of the house heat consumption and theutilized energy on the solar energy recievers, the method forcalculations of the radiation on the inclined surface, and theapproximate calculations of the utilized solar energy in theinsulated solar collector and noninsulated solar absorber wereapplied. The justifiableness of different solar energy recievers, used asthe heat source for the heat pump or as the autonomous heatsource, for the low temperature heating was investigated. Calculated values of the heat consumption, consumed electricenergy for the heating purposes, the produced heat or utilizedsolar energy were ploted for months during the year and for thewhole year for nine considered heat pump heating systems. Based on the energy consumption and price, as well as theequipment prices, the yearly costs were determined. In order tocompare heat pumps with common heating systems, the yearly costswere determined for the electric heating and the boiler plantfired with the liquid fuel.

    Number of pages: 32
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The study deals with analysis of energy consumption for heating, cooling and heating of the consumption hot water for the nauticcentre in Dubrovnik designed to accomodate 1000 persons. Thecomparison between the air-to-water and sea-to-water heat pump ismade in the system analysis. By comparing the yearly costs(energy, maintenance, investment) the sea-to-water heat pump isshown to be the more convenient solution for the energy supply. The optimization of the equipment size is performed and thetechnical design for the chosen system is made.

    Institution depot: Tehnički fakultet Rijeka
    Year: 1991
    Number of pages: 43
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The project defines the main design of HVAC system for the yachtharbor "Marina SP Betina" on Murter island, heating capacity 140kW, cooling capacity 100 kW. The design is developed as theconsequence of revision of the earlier design which includedelectric resistant consumption water heating and the use ofair-to-water chillers for cooling. The new design ensures thecomplete HVAC energy production with sea-to-water heat pump, utilizing the condenser heat produced during the coolingoperation of the heat pump for the consumption weater heatingduring the summer. The system control is by the mycroprocessor. The design encloses all the necessary design drawings, calculations and annalysis for the construction of the system, which can be considered the typical design.

    Year: 1992
    Number of pages: 193
    Language: hrvatski
Summary: The project includes the constructional design for the energyplant in sanatorium with hotel in Nebug - Russia, with heatingcapacity 3500 kW, and cooling capacity 2500 kW. Heat pumps withthe sea water as the heat source and diesel powered electricgenerators are incorporated in the system, as well as severalsensible and latent heat storages. System is capable for energyindependent operation, with no regard to external energy supply.
