Summary: An mathematical analysis of the heat transfer in dry rotary heatexchanger - regenerator is reported. The case in whichthreedimensional material heat conduction effect on thetemperature fields in the rotary heat exchanger is taken intoconsideration. Governing differential equations are solvednumerically using finite difference technique. An iterativeprocedure is applied for solving a set of linear algebraicequations. Calculated temperatures from relevant literature fortwodimensional case are in good agreement with results obtainedfor adequate threedimensional model. Also, calculated regeneratorefficiencies for both models are in good agreement.

Summary: The paper discusses the compaund phenomenon of the heat and masstransfer analysis in wet regenerator. The mathematical modelcomposed of a system of partial differential equations is solvedby using the numerical method of finite differences. Theperiodical distribution of the gas and matrix temperature withthe coresponding rate of the wet component along the regeneratoris obtained. The longitudinal heat conduction in the matrixmaterial is also taken into consideration. For some routinetehnical problems in the aplication of a wet regenerativeexchanger, the given complex analysis of heat exchange and masstransfer can be simplified because the mass transfer has aminimal effect on heat exchange.
Keywords: Heat transfer, Mass transfer, Wet heat regenerator, Rotary regenerator.

Summary: A mathematical analysis of the heat transfer physical phenomenonin the dry rotary heat exchanger is reported. Matrix material ofthe rotary heat exchanger is aproximated as a porous structurefor the hot and cold gas stream flow. The mathematical model isdescribed by the system of mass and energy conservationequations, and in analysis the heat conduction in tangential, radial and axial direction is taken into the consideration.Governing differential equations of the threedimensional modelare solved numerically using finite difference technique. Forsolving a set of linear algebraic equations an iterativeprocedure is applied. Calculated temperatures forthreedimensional model are in good accordance with resultsobtained in relevant works for twodimensional model. Also, calculated regenerator efficiencies for both models are in goodagreement. On the basis of these solutions the effect of thematrix heat conduction on the temperature fields of gases andmatrix is studied.

Summary: The low temperature corrosion problem in rotary heat exchangerisn't completely solved. Theoretical research on this problem hasbeen done using numerical simulation of the temperaturedistribution over the rotary heat exchanger matrix. In spite ofthe high mean gas exit temperature, quit often the results showthat the local matrix temperatures are below the criticaltemperature. This could be hazardous for the matrix material. Thesoftware has been tested on two real cases of the rotary airpreheaters of the electric power stations.
