Summary: This project is designed to explore possibilities to obtain optimal cam profile of the fuel injection pump with use of methodical construction with computer support. Several versions of cam profile was tested and thereafter critical analysis of each version was made. Following evaluation of each profile, the best version was optimized in order to maximally achieve given aims of this research project.

Research goals: The primary aim is to seek optimal cam profile of the fuel injection pump on basis of principle of methodological construction, which shall to the highest grade meet list of requirements which modern system of fuel injection requires, and they are: - to reach sudden speed increase of the piston, - to reach high speed of fuel injection, - possibility to withstand high pressure tension, - to obtain sufficient lasting, etc. Programmes used for cam profile optimization are universal and give possibility for critical analysis and construction of characteristic curves: erection, speed and pressure angle, pressure angle and maximally permitted pressure of pumps. Accordingly it will be possible to determine beginning and end of supply, marginal rotating speed, permissible pump pressure, and by that lasting of cam shaft. Suggested solution for cam profile optimization shall give possibility to designers of fuel injection system to determine design phase optimal cam profile of injecting mechanism, by which very expensive production of prototypes will be avoided as well as possibility for premature pump damage in later phase of serial production.
