Summary: Research of influences of welding parameters upon the resistanceto pitting corrosion in welded joints made on the high alloyedsteel has been studied. In the first part of the work, basicfacts on the corrosion resistant-high alloyed steel, peculiarities of their welding and corrosion phenomena in theweldment area are given. Experimental work has been performedapplying automated TIG, pulse MIG and PLASMA processes. Weldingconditions werw varied for austenitics, superferritic and duplex(austenitic-ferritic) base metal. Also, study of resistance topitting corrosion related to the welded joint surface conditionis made. Methods of measuring and analysis of welded jointfeatures such as roughness, topography, local electricitypotential of the surface and surface oxides are described.Measurements were made on the austenitic steel samples. It isprovided that change of the welding conditions of the weldmentsurface may influence both the caracter and intensity of thepitting corrosion in the weldmwent area.

Summary: The equivalent reflector size is the initial value for the flaw evaluation upon which the inspected workpiece should or should not be accepted, and/or the condition assessment should be proclaimed. The reliable estimation of the equivalent reflector size depends on accurate determination of acoustic energy distribution in inspected material. The analysis and state of the art of conventional and theoretical models are given in the first part of this work. The possibility of mathematical modelling of ultrasonic beam in inspected material is given to aim at characterisation of the ultrasonic testing system. The ultrasonic pulse-echo method, piezoelectric method for ultrasonic wave generation and two basic types of reflectors have been applied throughout the experiment. At the basis of the experiment results, with which the real terms and affec-ting parameters are involved, the mathematical model of reflector response has been designed according to the set criteria. The very good model evaluation results have confirmed the proposed approach to problem solving.
