Summary: Increased care for clean environment and limited sources
ofenergy have inevitably resulted in many laws to be passed. Thispaper
deals with some important aspecis of subjects laws treatingmotor exhoust
fumes and feul consumption. The expected effects ofthese laws as well as
possible development trends in designingmotor vehicles and their engines
have been presented.

Summary: The article considers the effect of motor vehicles upon the
environment cleanliness and human health. The analysis of the engine
exhaust gas and fuel with regard to their constituents, effect and share of
certain individual substances has been carried out. Primarily, the
constituents whose content is limited by legal regulations have been dealt
with: carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. Attention has also
been paid to other noxious substances like: aromatic compounds, lead,
sulphur and particles. The influence of alcohol as an alternative fuel has
also been examined.

Summary: Limited amounnts of energy sources, especially of classical
fuelssuch as gas, oil, and coal, and more rigorous reguirements
foreuvironment pollution reduction, have given incentive tointensive
research into the field of alternative energy sources. This paper deals with
the properties, production and applicationpossibilities and influence on
the environment of the moreprominent alternative energy sources used form
road vehicleengines: liquified fuels, gas fuels and electrical energy.
Itseems highly probable that in the near future different energysources
(fuels and electrical energy) will be used, but it islikely that new, yet
unknown, solutions will be found as well.

Summary: When talking about ecological and energy related problems
of roadmotor vehicles, electrical automobile may be sometimes mentionedas a
beneficial solution. According to this, there exists in theworld a tendency
for the development of cars with eletric batterypropulsion. This article
discusses some advantages anddisadvantages of the application of electric
drive unit, with aspecial reference to our conditions.

Meeting: Tagung: Abgasemissionen und Immissionen durch den Strassenverkehr
Held: from 09/10/92 to 09/11/92
Summary: Between 1981 and 1989 average driving speed,
traffic-jampercentage as well as average fuel consumption were measured
ondifferent streets in Zagreb, form which a mediumsized passengercar driven
by gasoline-engine was used. Traffic regulations andtown speed limit (60
km/h) were continued during the experiments. The results of the
representative car and total fuel consumption
enabled us to estimate the air pollution caused bygasoline-engine. The
average driving speed is linked with fuelconsumption and air pollution, as
well as with traffic-jampercentage. There is a high portion of lead in
petrol which
pollutes the environment even more. Traffic flow and its betterplanning
could reduce the fuel consumption and car induced airpollution.

Held: from 12/15/94 to 12/16/94
Summary: Since devices for automation of control processes are
increasingly being used in vehicles, this paper deals with a short survey
of the devices which are most commonly used in new vehicles. Automtized
devices in vehicles are classified into five groups: devices for making the
work of the driver easier, devices for controlling the engine operation,
devices for increasing active safety and those for increasing passive
safety, and finally devices for improving the working environment of the
driver and passengers. The application of the above mentioned is given too.

Summary: Device for reduction of fuel consumption of internal
combustionengines is based on magnet which should have positive influenceon
fuel consumption. There were 14 series of measurements. Afterconducted
tests determined results are compared and shown in formof charts
(diagrams). Maximal differences in fuel consumption, when device has been
applied related to serial arrangement, areup to +/- 2 %, what is on
precision level of measurementsequipment.
