Summary: The process of micromilling of the large flat surfaces has
been investigated. The experiments with micromilling of contact surfaces of
steam turbine housing has been carried out. The effects were significant,
high quality of roughness Ra = 0,24 m has been achieved and the machining
casts have been decreased for more than 2 times. The application of ceramic
inserts at machining of cylinder bore of the large ship Diesel engine has
been investigated as well as the application of CBN inserts at the
machining of welded stellite layer on the motor valves. The results are
very good in both cases. Tool wear (dimensional wear) at fine machining of
steel by turning and its effects on quality of the machined surface have
been investigated. A new approach to the tool wear criteria selection has
been suggested, that is technological totol wear criteria based on the
measures accuracy and the roughness of the machined surface has been
accepted. This makes endables possible supervision of fine machining
process at automatized machining systems.
Research goals: The aim of the research of micromilling was
substitution of the complexed of operations grinding and hand scrape of
the large surfaces by the operation operation of micromilling. The
expected results have been achieved completely rooughness Ra = 0,24
micrometers and the machining costs have been decreased for over 2 times
comparing to the previously used produciton procedure. The aim of
investigation of turning of large diesel engine cylinder bore by ceramic
inserts was to achieve minimaln tool wear and the measure inside
tolerances of the all cylindar bore length. The results have shown that
the ceramic insert can satisfy the requzired machining conditions. At
turning of welded layer of stellite 1 on the seat of the skip diesel
engine valve by the tooll CBN inserts, the aim was the supstitution of the
grinding operation which is slow and expensive. The expected results
define the optimal culting speed and increase the economy of the machining
process. At the investigation of dimensional tool wear at fine turing the
aim was to investigate and to define the basic quantities of the fine
machining process and of the dimensional tool wear in order to accept the
new technological tool wear criteria. The expected results are:
dimensional tool wear is systematic phenomen and makes up to 50% of the
total machinig error. In the conditions of the fine turning it is possible
to use the technological tool wear criteria based on the workpiece.
