Summary: The pipe break in high pressure /7 bar/ distribution systemhaving a gas leakage in the atmosphere as a consequencerepresents a problem concerned with economy, safety, ecology andtechnique.Technically the problem relates to the determination ofprotection, aiming at the decrease of the gas loss, denger andenvironment pollution. In high pressure gas transportation systems/50 bar/ this problem is solved by building in of the line breakinstruments which segment the system by means of preventingdevices that are injected by pipe break detection system.Thedetection system is based on measuring of temporal change ofpressure. In this paper the applicability of line-breakinstruments in gas distribution system characterized by lowerworking pressure, is analyzed from the aspect of detection systemas the most important part of the instrument. The analysis hasbeen carried out on the basis of the numerical simulation ofdynamic behavior of the simple model of gas distribution systemby using a hydrodynamic model of one dimensional isotermic gasflow. The result of the analysis are pointing on the decreasingpossibility of the pipe break in the gas distribution system /7bar/, in comparison with the possibility to detect the pipe breakin gas transportation system /50 bar/, as well as to thenecessitz of simulation of dynamic behavior of gas distributionsystem as basis for projecting of detection system.

Summary: Analysis od the gas network dynamics, for simple systems consisting of supply regulator valve, pipeline and consumer is presented in this work. In order to estimate gas network dynamic behavior, the resulting supply signal is derived as a function of the periodically oscillating consumer signal. Hydrodynamical model of unsteady, one - dimensional, isotermic, compressible, viscous flow is chosen. The analytic solution of the problem considered is found on the basis of the linearized mathematical model. The obtained results directly show the frequency domain in which the resonance appears, in simple gas network.

Summary: Analysis of the gas network dynamics, for simple systems consisting of supply regulator valve, pipeline and consumer is presented in this work. In order to estimate gas network dynamic behaviour, the resulting supply signal is derived as a function of the periodically oscillating consumer signal. Hydrodynamical model of unsteady, one-dimensional, isotermic, compressible, viscous flow is chosen. The model is presented by system of partial, non-linear, non-homogeneous first order differential equations of hyperbolic type. The analytic solution of the problem considered is found on the basis of the linearized mathematical model, and compared to the results obtained by numerical method of characteristics on the basis of the non-linear hydrodynamical model. The obtained results directly show the domain in which results of the linearised model can be accepted as accurate ones for the particular usage.

Summary: Following the Betz idea, the expression suitable for the experimental determination of the total viscous resistance of the submerged body, moving at a constant speed in a fluid at rest, is derived, using the Reynolds equations of motion and continuity equation. The experimental metod of determining the total viscous resistance is based upon the comparison of the real and fictitious irrotational motion which is identical to the real flow in the domain outside the boundary layer and wake. In the present work the realtionships for the lower and upper bounds of the total viscous resistance are derived in terms of the measurable quantities.

Summary: The corrective analytical differencing (CADI) scheme, based upon the one-dimensional exact solution of the convection-diffusion equation with constant coefficients and the constant source term, is compared to the popular exponential differencing scheme (EDS) of Spalding. Both schemes are applied in solving Navier-Stokes and Euler equations by the finite volume method in body-fitted coordinates. A significant improvement of solution accuracy is obtained by applying the CADI scheme, because of reduced false diffusion.

    Author: SUTLOVIĆ IGOR
    Date of defense: 09/18/95
    Language: hrvatski
    Number of pages: 114
Summary: In this work analysis of experimentally measured energy performances of series pumps with the variable outer impeller diameters is completed. Rotational speed is constant and spiral case is the same. Measured performances in dimensional form (dependance of height, power and efficiency to flow ratio) are transformed to nondimensional one. Comparison between energy performances of series of pumps in nondimensional form and the results of application of similarity to same series of pumps is made to examine their coincidence. For series of impeller diameters from 150 mm to 190 mm good coincidence is remarked, while impellers od 130 and 140 mm diameter deviate significantly. This can be explained by the fact that gometric cimilarity is not completely satisfied.

Summary: In order to reduce false diffusion in numerical solutions ofconvection-diffusion equation, a new differencing scheme suitableto control-volume method is proposed. The new correctiveanalytical differencing (CADI) scheme is based on theone-dimensional exact solution of the convection-diffusionequation with constant coefficients and constant source term.Accuracy of the new scheme is assessed through a series of testsituations with known exact solutions. Results show relevantaccuracy improvements with respect to the exponentialdifferencing scheme (EDS) of Spalding. The new scheme isconsistent, simple, accurate, and easy to implement in existingcodes based on EDS scheme. Development and applications of CADIdifferencing scheme in body-fitted coordinates are explored inPart 2.

Summary: In this paper a control volume method is developed forintegrating general convection-diffusion equation innon-orthogonal (body-fitted) coordinates. The new proposed CADI(Corrective Analytical Differencing) scheme defined in Part 1 andstandard EDS (Exponential Difference) scheme of Spalding arecompared. Comparison of the differencing schemes in three typicalsituations of pure convective and convective-diffusive transportin different orthogonal and non-orthogonal grids for a range ofcell-Peclet numbers are provided. Results show that CADIdifferencing scheme significantly improves solution accurracy byreducing the influence of false diffusion. The new differencingscheme is straightforward and may be easily extended to 3Dsituations.
