Summary: This project provides the principle of procedure to find the safety index as real measure of safety degree in the application of metal and composite structures. The incorporation in international trend of new probabilistic approach of checking safety is the goal of this researching. The investigation is achieved with probabilistic method II, which is used for: a) to find out partial coefficients applied in the structure carrying capacity proofs by probabilistic level I procedure which has already been introduced in all the latest technical regulations; b) for the proof of structure carrying capacity in the application of new materials which have not yet been codified; c) to prove the carrying capacity of structures exposed to special loadings that have not been included in the specifications; d) to realize economies trough calculations of patterned structures where mass production of identical elements is envisaged. This project provides the analysis of safety degree of: steel structures predominantly loaded with wind, fatique of steel bridges, redundant steel structures systems, axially compressed cylindrical shells.

Research goals: Determination and introduction of risk in the engineering practice has to be done by the aplication of probabilistic methods of safety assessment. The project presents risk and safety design models of structural systems as a basic for desicion making in safety theory. Obtained safety of indices are results of researching elements of considered steel structures.
